October 11, 20205 yr Hello! Is this post for MSFS2020? The option WideViewAspect exists, but made no effect for me - the distortion was the same with 0 or 1. The Lens Correction did some effect, but very small (around 2%), and in opposite direction, with it on the stretch on the sides was slightly worse. But it is good news that this exists, and that it worked in previous versions like P3D or FSX - so we expect that they will fix it some day in MSFS2020! Of course that REAL multi-monitor setup would be even better, but while it does not come, at least a non distorted single view would be welcome. Currently MSFS2020 is unusable for C172 where the aircraft structure covers the whole side window! (3 monitors setup 48:9)
October 12, 20205 yr There is no "distortion" in multi monitor view. The apparent distortion results from improper setup of multiple displays (or ultrawide display): - side displays at an angle - zoom level (FoV) not aligned Of course Asobo still needs to implement proper multi monitor support allowing setting side displays at an angle. Until it's implemented here is the explanation how to avoid perceiving the image as distorted: Edited October 12, 20205 yr by Steku

The apparent distortion results from improper setup of multiple displays (or ultrawide display): Actually there is no support for multiple monitors, not even for super-ultra-wide (anything from 32:9 or above). This way MSFS supposes you have a not so wide screen and does a FLAT projection, that naturally distorts any wider image (see sketch below). So it is not "improper setup", but non existent setup... The WideViewAspect was supposed to convert this flat projection in a cylindrical projection, that would solve the problem for ultra-wide and even make it better for multiple monitors while a true independent adjust is not available (ideally it could allow you setup the radius of the projection, to help to adjust to your field of view).
October 13, 20205 yr If you place all your displays in one flat row (or use one flat ultra wide display) there is no distortion. Trust me, I have such setup. The apparent distortion is compensated by the extreme angle/perspective at which you are looking at the side displays. I fully agree that placing all displays in one flat row is not the preferred option, and I also hope for the implementation by Asobo of simultaneous multi projection or cylindrical projection at least. They have the multi display support on their backlog.

P3D allows you to change the projection algorithm with view groups (cylindrical, flat, spherical), although in practice I haven't found this makes a huge difference. And in my experience WideViewAspect ('Wide View Aspect Ratio') has no effect on viewgroups. @Steku I'm not sure 'simultaneous multiple projection' is the same thing as multiple views, SMP was (is?) nvidia's name for multiple views generated with no processing overhead. I'm not sure if that ever saw the light of day, but it never made it into the flight sims. October 13, 20205 yr Indeed nVidia's SMP was only used by some racing sims. No matter which technology Asobo will use, let's hope it will allow defining separate view ports with moderate performance impact (unlike X-Plane implementation requiring 3 X-Plane processes running simultaneously, each serving one display).

Yes, we can hope. I was surprised to see that 2020 can't even give us multiple windows, which is a real step backwards. BTW, X-Plane 11 doesn't need multiple instances, it's pretty much like a P3D view group. I never used previous versions of X-Plane. I could not possibly agree with this statement more. FSX allows for multiple windows, containing content chosen by choice (say, a fixed view out the left window, or an exterior view as examples), to be placed & positioned at will. As great as it is, for a current iteration of the MFS franchise, MFS '20 is *vastly* less flexible than its predecessor of 14 years ago, FSX. i7-12700K; GF RTX 3080Ti 12 GB; MSI Z690 MB; 32 GB DDR5 4800Mhz (16x2); 850W 80+ Gold PS; 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD + 2 TB HDD @ 7200 + Kingston 4TB XS2000 USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Ext.
