... I do remember the highlights;

Thanks a lot for that inspiring description.

That will keep me busy for a while after having flown over my house and before moving on to more exotic destinations. Will spend some more time around Anchorage probably.

This youtube channel (Aviation101) gives some more ideas:

I just hope all these small strips will be sufficiently immersive in default MSFS or at least easily enhanced by an instant-scenery-like tool.

Btw would be interesting to see how Monument Valley or other distinctive rock formations are depicted in MSFS. Just mesh would not be enough, they will probably have to be created as 3D-objects. Not sure if we have seen something like Monument Valley yet.

One place I have flown in MSFS is up the Orinico river in South America.

Do you have a suggestion as to what airport to start at?

In my case, I started at TTPP in Trinidad and flew down the coast, ending up at SVPR then to SVCB.  You might find an airport closer to the mouth of the river, and the small airports in the area are pretty cool.

I started at San Juan, Puerto Rico and flew around most of the Caribbean to get to Trinidad.  This is an area I've flown a lot in P3D and I even created several scale maps of the area for a sailing simulator, so I was intimately familiar with it.
