RXP GTN750 ‘black screen’ (resolved)

Featured Replies

I have recently purchased the the RXP GTN750 for FSX SE. The product appeared to install fine, the trainer works. I’m using the Comanche 250 from A2A. They have their own app for going the gauges. Used this and selected the flight 1 750 as there’s no 750 listed for RXP??

In game, the 750 shows in the aircraft no probs. Go through aircraft start and power up the avionics. All work except the 750. I have found a couple of other articles relating to an ‘always on’ setting. Couldn’t actually find where to make such a config change. I’ve also noted that the installed loc of the 750 DB is in different loc to that specified in the user manual. I created a windows variable with the correct loc and this made no diff.

Any help would be much appreciated, tia.

Hi there,

You get the setting you're looking for when you pop up the GTN, mouse pointer in the centre of top bezel and then shift + right click.

In case that doesn't help, have a look here:

Hope it works for you,

Michael

That is step 1 of 2...

Step 1: Select the F1 GTN750 in the a2a config app

Step 2: Convert the F1 GTN750 to the RXP GTN750 using the Addons RXP dropdown app

Without step 2, you will get a dark GTN750.

Hi Bert,

Thank you for your response. In the sim, within the Add-ons menu, I have Reality XP GTN and within there, I have Setup Aircraft...

Is this the option you mean to "Convert the F1 GTN 750 to the RXP GTN750?

@Micko ty, I have found the setting using the method. Changed this to 'Always on' which has made no difference. Still a black screen. I must need to do step as Bert described but I can't see how.

Correct...

If you are new to this, it may seem complicated.. but once you have done it for one airplane, it is the same for others.. and quickly done.

Hi Bert, thank you.

I reran the A2A Configurator which restored any previous changes.

In the SIM, running Aircraft Setup looked exactly as the tutorial (Flt1 on the left and rxp gtn750 on the right) except mine was assigned to window 13 and obviously the carrenado specific references were not relevant.

I still got a black screen unfortunately.

Any other ideas?

OK, so did you replace the Window13 and the VC instances by the RXP versions?

Depending on how recently you downloaded the Garmin Trainer, you may be caught up in the latest incompatibility between the Trainer and the GTN gauge.. documented in these forums.

Check the RXP log files in your Documents folder and see if there is a

"Trainer not found" error message.

Hi there,

looks like this is a common issue. I just purchased GTN 750 and installed it together with Garmin Trainer GT. But I only get a black screen at my P51D Munstang. I tried Power Source Always ON. Also different planes. But nothing works. Log reports no trainer is found at ProgramData, even I installed GTN v6.62 and it works at my PC, but there's no copy into ProgramData. Must I copy manually the files???? What's the problem?

Yes, I have that in the logs. Very recent download.

And sorry, forgot to confirm that I had replaced window13 and the VC with RXP gauges where they were listed as FLT1. That bit seem to go fine. The aircraft reloaded and the popout worked where it didn’t before.

Just the black screen issue; which it sounds like I purchased and downloaded at just the wrong time. Story of my life, a dollar short and a day late 😊

Sounds like I need to await the update from RXP?

Thank you for all your help.

Based on past history, you will not have to wait long.

Or, you can try to download the older trainer in the meantime.

The combination I have running is the Garmin Trainer v 6.62.0 and the Reality GTN v 2.5.55.2, which is the most recent Reality XP GTN release which is 2.5.22.2, dated 2-19-2020.  It works fine.  I scoured the web today looking for a download for 6.62.0 but came away empty.
