February 3, 20188 yr In California, Monterey is mine preferred orbx airport. Great ambiance with the old seaplane parked. The sculpture of a boy with a plane in the hand... Etc. Following the coast is a good idea too. Nice shots (again) Mark

February 8, 20188 yr Tasty set of shots here! Must be beautiful to drive this route in a nice car, or a bike! ;-)
February 8, 20188 yr Lovely choice for a VFR flight. When me and my family first moved to California in 1966, we made the mistake of traveling highway 1. Nice scenery but a lot of mileage to drive up the CA coast, and many hairpin that hug the coastline. John

I have from a Morro Bay a photo of the Morro Rock taken from a motel a block off the waterfront at sunset. Have about 300 photos in my collection that are keepers so to speak. Its in my top 20! There are a couple of others in that category taken between Morro Bay and Monterey. Chagrin that I never saw that stretch of landscape from 172 or 337 "viewing altitude" in real life. Even commercial routes I traveled when I lived in Orange County, all at cruise altitude from say Portland or Seattle or San Fran to LAX or SNA, fail to pass over that coastline. They are either off the coast or inland. The inland routes can offer some great views, mostly more north over the mountains, but not of the coastline like the flight you shared. Thank you for sharing this one! HLJAMES Spent many weekends at Laguna Seca during my 24 years in the motorcycle industry. AMA Superbike, World Superbike, and Motorcycle 500 and 250 World Championship before it was renamed to Moto GP. We would truck in about 30 different model motorcycles and conduct demo rides for spectators who held appropriate motorcycle licenses. We used the roads to the north and east of the track. We used to trade off motorcycles with our industry competitors and go for joy rides on each other's products at the end of the days. Some of the best riding was on roads through the west end of the former fort area, which was expansive. Great twisty turnys there! Our trips up there from the Los Angeles area were first through the mountains north of Ojai, and then on coastal route 1 from Santa Maria to Monterey.
