Aerosoft Airbus 318/319 to be released a week from now

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the new features that come with the a318/319 will carry over into the legacy a320/321? So basically is there a service pack coming to the a320 if you buy the a319 product?

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking at it from a simmer perspective. On the grand scale I really could not care less, since I'll only fly it a handful of times and after that I'm gone for a month flying in real life.

The excuse they have about server load and their sales system is really something they should have figured out (and solved) before release. Now they have people who buy it thinking they got the full package (saw a couple of them already on their forum). Plus, it gets annoyingly confusing with all the different upgrade paths. Would have saved them and us as customers a lot of headaches and money.

I'll just go fly my Jetstream 41 in P3D for the next two days  .

No.  They will not be "brought back" to the existing a320.  If you want the new features, you have to buy a "new" a320/321.

I think a lot of people are confused. So basically I will get a discount on a318%319 since I currently have the a320 extended. However, I will need to buy a new a320 to get the features the a319 has? If that's the case then maybe I'll just wait for the a320 instead of getting the 319 now.

For the moment we are dropping the cross update A318/A319 <> A320/A321, we'll discuss that later when the A320/A321 is available. We'll find a way.

The boxed products will follow in October/November and will have similar prices.

I think a lot of people are confused.

You can say that again. I'm trying to figure out what's going on with this, and I think I've come up with it.

  • The Airbus X Extended exists today.
  • They've just released the Aerosoft Airbus A318/A319 for individual sale today (9/22/2014)
  • They're working on an Aerosoft Airbus A320/A321, due next month.
  • Owners of the AXE can purchase the A318/A319 at a discount this week.
  • Owners of the AXE will not be able to update for free to the A320/A321, but will have a less expensive upgrade path if desired.
  • New users can buy a A318/A319 and A320/A321 combo this week, but the A320/A321 isn't ready yet and will be added to their account once done.

As a potential customer, I'm watching with interest. Too bad they didn't have it all ready at once, but such is life.

Not sure why people think this is so hard. You buy an update. A major update, much like PMDG and everyone else does. Its not just a facelift.

If you own the A320/321, you get the A318/319 at a discount and also the updated A320/321 when it is available next month or so for less than a single airport.....simple.

William Sequeira

As a current AXE owner, I don't understand the confusion myself. Seems relatively straightforward.

Got it. Thanks for the clarification, but insults are not necessary.

Is it only me that cannot understand Aerosoft's strategy to split the release? I get in Avsim to read some reviews of the new A318/319, I see very little posts and I realise ''How many people don't have the A320/321 and will buy the A318/319? I think a few. Most of the users that read the topics are A320/321 users. So, I don't see the point of doing that..

Judging by the posts I've read at the Aerosoft forums, I don't think it's a strategy so much as a set of constraints that was forced on them by the current state of their e-commerce software.  Maybe it also helps them to avoid server overload, but their comments make me think they're not happy with the delay either.  It's just how things worked out.  Maybe in hindsight you could say that they should should have had more a more robust e-commerce system in place but those aren't easy to do, and life in IT world is hardly ideal.  So here we are.  I'd like to be able to buy today but all things considered, I figure I can live with a two-day delay.  My $.02.

Anyway.... I finished my first flight with the A319 and it was great! I did the tutorial (so also with CP on) and it was a bit too much like being a passenger in the cockpit instead of being a pilot but I will turn off that CP soon (after doing the tutorial once more) and I am looking forward to a lot of flights with this plane! It looks great, I didn't have any bugs so far, it performs a LOT better than I expected (I didn't even have to lower my rather extreme settings, although things did get choppy a little in some circumstances but that's my own 'fault') so all in all I am very happy with it!!!

BTW I was surprised with the AA: I expected a lot of shimmering because you aren't sitting as close to the panel as in for instance the A2A Cherokee but it looked great! As if I enabled some sort of extra AA without knowing it. (I did install the latest nVidia driver: maybe that helped too...?)

I am fighting the urge to buy it now but I am trying to wait until Wednesday to get the discount.

Too bad they didn't have it all ready at once,

Mathijs stated that they did not want to overload the servers, hence the delay.

Will def be waiting to get the discount as still working on the Dash 8 :)
