And for those who prefer video than code, here is a short demonstration of both of my scripts (night transition and white clouds):

Looks good, feel free to upload it to http://www.xp-developer.com

The all scripts will be united

Hrmm not sure but I don't really see a difference in overall appearance when following your instructions. I dl'ed everything as required in your instructions. Is there a step I'm missing. I have placed all 4 LUA scripts in the proper folder but when the sim loads up, it doesn't look like anything like your screenshots. This is my first time messing with the art controls and lua scripts.

Am I suppose to install xsquakbox in order for the lua scripts to take effect? Another question is, I am using modified lights.txt, 1000_lights_close.dds, 1000_lights_distant2.dds, and lights.png. Should I revert back to the default files in order to get the most from these modified art controls/lua scripts?

Any additional help is appreciated. Thanks!

Sure Tom, it's there as well now. Thanks!

Hi, about your problems it is very difficult to diagnose it without more information. Are you sure you have installed FlyWithLua properly? To check it, you can load X-Plane and then go to the submenu "Plugins" and check if you have a "FlyWithua" option there. If it is there, then you should have it installed properly, and then the problem lies somewhere else.

As for the modified lights, I have no idea if it is interfering with something or not. And do you also use Real Terra Haze? If so, please read about compatibility in my file description at x-plane.org. Do you use SkyMaxx? Apparently my cloud plugin does not work with SkyMaxx (I don't have it so I can't test it, but an user reported it).

Let me know if you need any more help, you can also PM me.

Take care,
Gilberto

10.3 with Night light transition, white clouds, and Real Tera Haze LUA scripts are fantastic together.  Really like the blue to gold to red to purple haze transition. PAPI lights are on, then the runway lights come on, gradually all the city lights, and finally the stars!

Too bad does not work with SkyMaxxPro. Really miss the cloud color transitions that come with the X-plane default shaders.

@Slai thank you for the video, I really appreciate it. It shows very well the cloud effect. But since your aircraft is below 700m AGL (~2300 ft AGL), my script for the night light transition is not activated (look closely at 0:06 and you'll see all city lights popping in at once). If you'd be flying higher, then you'd get the smooth transition effect (you can read more about it on the description of my file at x-plane.org). Sorry for this annoyance, but this was the only way (so far) I could solve the runway and PAPI light problems, since X-Plane lights are the same of the airport and also for the roads (I could't change just some of them....). I am working on a better solution, so let's see what comes next.

Regards,

Gilberto

The FlyLua section shows up under my plugin menu, so it's installed properly and I don't use SkyMaxx Pro or Real Terra Haze. Do I need to fly above a certain altitude to see what these art controls really do for the sky?

I'm referring to Pascal's 1st post with the screenshots and mine doesn't look anything like that. His sky colors is a nice deep blue at the top and then gradually fades to a nice light blue haze. And his land colors look much nicer, the green grass doesn't look yellowish like mine. If anything mine still looks like the default colors of a vanilla X-Plane install. I am trying to get the sim to look exactly like Pascal's screenshots, and I thought by installing those 4 LUA scripts would give me the exact same look. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I'm using 10.30b2, and those screenshots from Pascal are from 10.25?

Hmm, do you have HDR turned on or off? These tweaks only work with HDR on, and I believe that the options "draw per pixel lighting" and "atmospheric scattering" should also be on. Else you will not see any difference, I believe.

I do have HDR and atmospheric scattering on but draw per pixel turned off.

Gilberto, is this typical with your scripts?  I can only see part of the runway on departure....  if you look close you can barely make out the rest of it

Hi Ryan,

Not really, this looks indeed strange. I just went to make a test, and here I can see the runway lights very clearly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSzLuBO8PNQ

Are you using only those 4 scripts I offered or do you have some other ones as well?

Cheers,

Gilberto

Nope just those 4....

I had another one in the folder but renamed it to *.bak instead of *.lua

I'm running HDR with FXAA.

My video ram is only 1.28GB wonder if that's a factor?

Hmm, I don't know what may be causing you this problem. If you suspect that it might be your video RAM, then try to lower all your rendering options (but keep HDR, atmospheric scattering and draw per pixel on). Then test and see if the runway comes back to normal. If that solves the problem, then you can start to bring your rendering options back to what you normally use one by one, until you will find which option is causing you problems.

Well today it's working fine lol

Oh the joys of coomputing!
