Because I am not into the Facebook mentality of click on +1, -1, thumbs up, thumbs down, reputation points, who do we love-hate the most, who's the best, you're so mean, I love/hate you, you make me sick, your posts are worthless, +1000000000/-1000000000.

 

It's all just a meaningless popularity contest, much like a Homecoming/Student Council/Prom vote in any school, at any time.

Of course it's a popularity contest. People who are helpful and friendly get upgraded and become popular. People who are rude, unhelpful and step on other people's toes get downgraded and become unpopular. This is exactly as it should be.

 

The alternative is for people to get up/down graded based on which simulator they use or which aircraft addon manufacturer they do or do not support.

 

Note: I've been out of school for a long time.

I equate it to going down to the local pub. It is social and it is fun. If I walk into the local pub and people are rude or nasty then I would find a new pub to go do. Simple as that.

You should start a thread where the most interesting, obnoxious, or downright rude support emails are available for our perusal! Seems entertaining enough

And who cares if they are right or not? Or have the 'nads to disagree, or question, or have an original thought. You've fallen into the PC abyss, where following the lemming in front of you only leads to one thing, a long walk over a short cliff. Well. that's one walk I refuse to take. I'll continue to be who I am and what I am, proud of it.

You're right about that though, after all it's just a internet forum where most people doesn't even know each other in real life and getting -RP's isn't going to ruin anyones life. If it does, then they should consider getting a life

It would be better to start a seperate thread about that in the appropriate forum (and in case it's the FSX forum, you could also do a forum search at first, that question has been discussed quite often).

That's one of the rather rare occasions where I really agree with Jim (not only what he says, but really also how he says it) - while the reputation system is quite a cool feature, it is of course meaningless in terms of how helpful someone is. I mean you can get votes for just saying how cool a screenshot is (no matter if you really believe that or not), or for funny but not at all helpful posts. It's not that I disapprove with that, I simply say that to point out the weaknesses.

I guess some of them need a colonoscopy eh?
