After the post here I'm using SweetFX with ENB and it works perfectly...

It is certainly the hardest on FPS of their releases - but I'm still flying it around with no issue. Be SURE to run the DXTfixer!

Even harder than the C208B for FS9? :O :(

Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11. Running P3D v5.4 (with v4.5 scenery objects as an additional library, just in case), FSX-SE, MSFS2020, MSFS2024 and even FS9. XP11 and 12 installed, just for curiosity.

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there for airliner ops. FSX-SE also installed, just in case. Lossless Scaling in al my rigs. What a godsend...

The low framerates will undoubtably be down an abundance of (IMHO) unnecessarily oversized textures

I personally would DXT3 all bar the fuselage textures.

What's the sharpening settings you have for your screenshots? I had to ask as I'm impressed with the sharpness of your shots in this thread.
When I resize down to something stoopid photobucket accepts, I just use a 30% sharpening mask. I have no way of showing you, but what you see here is only maybe 65% of the quality of the Real Deal.

One is almost certainly overriding the other... I'd disable ENB

I generally do... but I think in this instance it may be the high-poly export into FS9 that's hurting.

Perhaps gauges too? It's not so bad that I am driven to go experimenting, but it is noticeable.

One is almost certainly overriding the other... I'd disable ENB

Both are living happily on my system.  My textures are far more sharp than they used to be and the ENB effect is active.  I tried testing this with Shift-F12 and found I could toggle ENB at will.  I removed SweetFX to see if I was just seeing things and that wasn't the case either.  Removing SweetFX made the sim more pixelated as it was before and adding it fixed the issue.  Maybe I'm just lucky...

I enquired about the TBM850 for FS9 (wanted one for years) ....they replied it is in the to-do list but it did depend on FS9 sales.....so I had no choice but to purchase the King Air. :lol:

Here is a quick fix for the static cfg and nose gear suspension....still a little work to do on the panel lighting. (the shot you see is without the landing light switch (same method as the Baron)

Thanks so much Ed for throwing a shout out to Carenado concerning future FS9 releases. Also thanks for this contact point update. Really looking forward to that panel light mod...

Ok guys here is my panel lights mod: http://www.mediafire.com/?k42a6rdxctfmjg7

The textures need to be copy/pasted/overwrite the files for each livery. (so try it on one first to see if you like it so you have a backup in the others)

Now the panel lights will illuminate separately to the landing light switch....in fact any light switch should switch on the instrument lighting but importantly the landing light will not switch them off.

Carenado's lighting system leaves a lot to be desired. I would also recommend disabling a couple of lights in the aircraft cfg.

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
//light.0 =5, 0.650000, 0.000000, 1.000000, fx_vclightcarcn
light.1 =10, 1.200000, 0.000000, 2.900000, fx_vclightcarcnb
light.2 =10, -4.800000, 0.000000, 4.000000, fx_vclightcarcn2
light.3 =10, -9.500000, 0.000000, 3.850000, fx_vclightcarcn2

light.4 =2, -1.200000, -23.300000, 1.100000, fx_strobecarcct
light.5 =2, -1.200000, 23.300000, 1.100000, fx_strobecarcct
light.6 =1, -21.800000, 0.000000, 10.000000, fx_beaconcarcct
light.7 =1, -2.000000, 0.000000, -2.000000, fx_beaconcarcct

light.8 =3, -1.400000, -23.200000, 1.100000, fx_navredctts2
light.9 =3, -1.400000, 23.200000, 1.100000, fx_navgrectts2
//light.10 =3, -23.530000, -0.300000, 2.500000, fx_navwhictts2

The recognition light switch...what does it do...who knows.

The ice switch...is not an anti-ice switch....I guess it is meant to switch the lights on for the leading edge of the wing. (which are tied to the landing lights at the moment.....I have disabled mine (just paint the texture black))

The logo light switch does not work either......although there is a logo light if you default keypress L

If Carenado had made the wing and logo lights effects instead of textures they could easily have been tied to the correct default switch code.

Instrument lighting that works day or night is also possible....but that is for them to find out.

Happy flying!

Thanks Ed, these updates finalize the product.  I can't harp on Carenado because they ported over this fantastic add-on to FS9.  Let's hope they do more.

FS2020

Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

How is the GPS functionality? Can you add/delete waypoints, change approaches, etc? I know on the newly released TBM they introduced that feature for their G1000; looks like they listened to customers!

I just want to say that I thorough retract my words on FPS - This C90 has MUCH better FPS on my rig than the Bull Stearman does - in fact, I average a good 15 FPS MORE with the C90 than I do with the Bull Stearman.

That doesn't change the fact that the C90 is one of my hardest planes on FPS - but it is flyable, which some others of mine are not (I'm thinking of the CS 757 cheifly, but there are others that I do not have installed due to problems of that nature. The C90 will continue to be a major part of my hangar.)

Ok guys one more update. I studied photos of the C90's nose gear parked, under braking and in the air.

For me now the behaviour of the nose gear compression is as good as it gets. :)

Edit* Another thing...You all know the textures with no alphas problem with scenery (alphasearcher) ....well the same applies to aircraft.

I opened the carenado exteriour textures using DXT3bmp (which automatically adds an alpha channel) and resaved the textures on themselves.

The load time of the C90 in my sim is now a zillion times faster!! ....and no alphas may very well be the reason for some having fps problems.

So glad you got the C90 Ed, and that you decided to tinker with it, and even more glad that you shared the fruits!

Tickled by the fact it definitely has no tailwheel... :)

but I reckon your second shot at the Nodding Dog is about right.

Still  a purty model

many thanks.

Here is my evening jaunt with light effects for nosewheel landing/taxi and wing landing light effects....and of course a little gauge to switch the landing/taxi lights on the nosewheel off with gear retraction The nosegear retraction speed was way too slow btw so here is another update.
