March 16, 201313 yr Why the 777-200LR was chosen to be in the base Pack and not the ER which is far more common and in use? the 200LR as of today is hardly in use. The 200ER is far more common... only 58 total orders/use are for the LR as apposed to 422 for the ER most of us want to mimic the real world and would find it very frustrating that the ER is not there. the LR is hardly at use in any fleet as of today. March 16, 201313 yr More efficient this way, and we get a working 777 release much sooner. It is easier for them to model the one engine type used on the LR, LRF, 300ER, then to go model 3 seperate others engines/air data of the 200ER...then later having to do it all again for the 200LR/LRF/300 Also sometimes it is fun to fly the most capable of the variants, simply from a pilot's perspective of enjoying airplane capabilities. This might be why they chose to do an MD-11. It is not as popular in the real world as others but it has some unique capabilites and exciting to fly. If you went to a FBO to rent a plane...they have a Cherokee 160 and a Dakota 236...for ducks, lets say they have same rental rate...which one are you going to rent? March 17, 201313 yr All this aside, surely you can use the 200LR in place of the 200ER without severely impacting on your sim enjoyment? Mark Adeane - NZWN
March 17, 201313 yr Is there going to be a 200ER? I am ok with it not being the first release for the stated reasons, but it would be a real shame if the 200ER wasn't done seeing as how it is the most widely used variation of the aircraft. Mitchell Haughee
March 17, 201313 yr I think we can consider the comminality of the 777-200LR 777-200F 777-300ER and 777-200ER as a bit of a sliding line. the -200LR and F are basically the same aircraft, the -300ER shares some things with the 777-200LR and the 777-200ER is the most different from the 777-200LR. Development of the -200LR and -200F are almost the same thing. the -300ER stems from the LR, and the -200ER stems from the -300ER. This is the quickest (to release) and most efficient way of releasing them - we get 2 up-front, and development of the -300ER benifits from the LR and F the most. Once the -300ER is released, further work is required to make the -200ER, utilizing some elements of the -300ER development. Development of the versions without letters (ie 777-200 and 777-300) would continue from there if they decide to do so. March 17, 201313 yr You should consider PMDG are not the biggest company in the world - they're developing three maybe four aircraft right now: B777-200LR/F/-300ER DC-6 B747-400 2.0 B747-800i/F NGX Expansions/Service Packs All in good time! Lets let them get the Base Package out first ^_^ - Luke Pabari
March 17, 201313 yr Commercial Member Gents- As Ryan has already pointed out, we chose the LR as the leadoff airplane because it gave us a much more streamlined development agenda than any of the other airplanes could provide. The primary example: Engine commonality for the LR, F and 300ER. But equally important, many of the automated system logic for the center hydraulic system, electrical system, fuel management, CG-weight-location management (etc) are common on these three airplanes, and different on each subsequent other airplane. In addition, by creating three airframe types utilizing the same engine- we streamline the sound creation process quite significantly. (There are a gaggle of engine sound signatures that have to be created for the 200A->200ER airplane types.) So choosing the LR/F as the base package means we get a simplified development process as we focus on the initial "what is a 777" phase of development, greater productivity output for invested man-hours and a broader swath of product flexibility for you, our customer. Will the 200ER get created? I'm certain of it... (The airplane is already finished- we just have to come back and do all the grunt work on the systems differences and the sounds, etc...) Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com

March 17, 201313 yr (The airplane is already finished- we just have to come back and do all the grunt work on the systems differences and the sounds, etc...) Didn't you also say that about the 300ER? the fact that the plane is done, its just adding the systems and sounds?? -ANDY GREENFlight Diary Account : http://flightdiary.net/SpeedBird7735 Hours experience in Grob 115, 30 minutes in Grob 102 10 Hours in Grob 109 PLUS SOLO! 23rd November 2013!
March 17, 201313 yr And do I understand Mr. Randazzo said the ER could be released as part of the base pack if testing drags on? Not sure I understand this correctly. Peter Peter James
March 17, 201313 yr I hope you don't make the 200/ER too dirty... What is all this obsession about this aircraft being absolutely pristine as has been posted by somebody else(buying a brand new aircraft)? And why cannot we accept that PMDG does not bend to our rules, all these requests to add this, add that, bring this version and that version to the table? Why can't we bear in mind that PMDG will give us what they as RW aviators see fit to give us and be content with that? Talk of the Oliver syndrome! Rick Almeida
