April 16, 201214 yr Surely the community can place the eyeballs inside the P-51. Just because it doesn't have a panel doesn't mean it doesn't have a seat. Looks like a pilot is fllying it to me. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
April 16, 201214 yr Yes indeed and that is the only way I fly the P51. I moved my eyepoint back, back , back from the original view, until I was in the shell of a cockpit. Now as long as I did not change aircraft later on then my view stayed the same upon launching a flight in the P51. But, when changing to another aircraft and going back to the P51, the eyepoint is reset to the original and have to go through it again. Rather, I created a saved flight and named it P51 cockpit view with the eyepoint where I want it, so all I have to do is load it and I get my P51 back with the eyepoint in that shell of a cockpit. In fact, in this view I also see the pilots arms and hands. Static view of course, as nothing functions in this view. Certainly no where near as good as having a functional VC, but for me at least I feel like I am flying from within the cockpit. Don B

April 16, 201214 yr To move the eyepoint back, the default key command is ctrl-q Obviously you will want to hold down control and hold down q to keep it moving, it is still a slow process. All the default key commands for eyepoint movements you can find under game controls in options menu. I actually have all of these key commands assigned to a hat on my stick, which makes it a little easier for me, but still a slow go. Don B
April 16, 201214 yr Could someone please remind me how to move the eye point back? Hi Jon: You can do it by panning with the mouse or pressing: CTRL+Q, then adjust with: Ctrl+E, Ctrl+W, Ctrl+S Take Don’s advice: Create a save Flight in case you accidentally hit the reset view button Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
April 16, 201214 yr Right thanks guys - I need to try this again because in the past it has not seemed to work for me. Perhaps I have been impatient with the Ctrl+Q Jon ------- Microsoft Flight Sim MVP Airport Design Editor FSDeveloper.com
April 16, 201214 yr Take Don’s advice: Create a save Flight in case you accidentally hit the reset view button Indeed, or change to another aircraft and then going back to the P51, the eyepoint will be reset as well. I then just load the saved flight, if I do not want to fly from that particular airport - after I have loaded the saved flight I exit, and then choose the airport to fly from and all is well as long as I still have not changed to another aircraft. April 16, 201214 yr Right thanks guys - I need to try this again because in the past it has not seemed to work for me. Perhaps I have been impatient with the Ctrl+Q Yes the first time I did it, for the first few seconds I thought what the heck this ain't working - then I looked at the ground and saw it was moving very, very slowly. It takes a while for the cockpit to show up, just keep holding and it will eventually get there. Don B
April 16, 201214 yr Right thanks guys - I need to try this again because in the past it has not seemed to work for me. Perhaps I have been impatient with the Ctrl+Q Yes, it takes a while. Remember: Ctrl+E = Forward Ctrl+W = Up Ctrl+S = Down Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
April 16, 201214 yr Author Guys, I am extra dense this morning. I can't get inside the cabin by scrolling the mouse view or eyepoint movements. Any hints on the basics. What view is selected when you use the Eyepoint back feature? Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
April 16, 201214 yr Guys, I am extra dense this morning. I can't get inside the cabin by scrolling the mouse view or eyepoint movements. Any hints on the basics. What view is selected when you use the Eyepoint back feature? Ray Ray; It takes a long time, I use F9 view to set the eyepoint. You can press F9 then turn right or left with the mouse and do mouse panning until you are way back, do fine adjust with the keyboard. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
April 16, 201214 yr Hey Ray, I have not done it with the mouse, but doing it with the key command: The original view I was in the first time I was in the P51, had me way in front of the aircraft I think, at least sitting there on the runway. I then used the move eyepoint back key command, holding it down the whole time - and it moved very very slowly. Again at first I thought nothing was happening, until I looked at a reference point on the ground and saw it was indeed moving. I wish I had timed it, but it took quite a while to move back into the static cockpit. Hence why it is so important, once you get it right where you want it, to save the flight with it in that position. You will not want to go through that again. Don B
