I'm guessing the dislike option is a standard part of the forum package that Avsim couldn't remove, but could prevent from being used by giving everyone a quota of 0.

I have seen the like / dislike functionality in another forum where discussions used be as passionate as they are here. To be honest it was a disaster and the forum degenerated significantly after it was introduced. I don't think it will be a good feature to be honest, though I am at least grateful to see that it is not possible to dislike a post.

Actually, I've seen a lot of forums where it works well. It is especially useful for voting down non-relevant comments and darkening them which allows the reader to naturally skip them. I think the functionality in this forum software merely lets you give the comment a "score" to discourage trolling, etc.
