Capt Sim 9.99 sale again

But she seems to have some trouble with the sounds on some systems.
I managed to get a replacement set of sounds from the AVSIM library that work fine, on the CS sounds the engine noise could be quite flaky, there one minute gone the next !!!G

Sor-ry, CoolP.In one fell swoop tonight, you have answered several questions for me.Prior to this, the A2A B377 mini-review/endorsement.You certainly know how to make something mouth-watering.Thanks for the CS products updates.Food for thought there.'Remember that the B-52 is a Fun Line product, so don't expect too much system detail, although quite some guys were complaining about too much depth on especially the fuel system.I like her and have no trouble with operation when sticking a bit to the manuals on the first few attempts.' As long as it is not just a base model like the recently-released 777,and has a panel for me to sit behind instead of some port-over, that will do. I used to have the Alphasim B-52 and that was quite good.

Yes, that other (free) sound pack is a tip there when running into the fading sound troubles.I think the fading has something to do with a gauge in use and the OpenAL thingy. They've never used that again on the following planes. The rest of the plane isn't known to cause any trouble, but I've read about those sound problems here and there, so one has to mention them to play fair.Very good point there, Gazzareth. And don't worry, Rick, you don't go wrong when you buy at the CS sales or safe some money to get the fine A2A Accusim release. You will, most likely, get a nice plane either way and each one of them is different in character and features. That A2A Captain thing is totally new tech in FSX but one has to like it of course. If another guy is looking for some inexpensive 767 or the mighty B-52 though, you can't recommend it of course.Me likes both, so I made/make both devs happy. :smile:Ah, don't worry, the B-52 Driver is a full plane. Check out their site, it shows you screenshots and a vid of the very good VC there. No 2D panel available like on most modern CS releases. That radar is a cool thing to look at.A note: that video actually is too current since it shows the 1.1 update in use, giving you visible wings when looking through the cockpit windows. The current 1.0 version of the plane only shows you wings when in the outside view modes.I'd say that the best buys will be the newer releases (B-52 and 707) as they offer current CS tech and optics while 757 and 767 are ok too, but C130 and 727 get noticeable older in appearance. All current stuff is a blast, you can't say it in other terms. The atmosphere is amazing and when using a not too old system you will also get very good fps.All 707 potentials should really read Alan's latest review. http://www.avsim.com...aptSim/707.html

I think I don't have a single one on the 757 except for another sound set which I bought later. But from the experience then, it wasn't really necessary. But you are right, the 727 is a base pack indeed. Throw in the FDE mod, something for the instruments, the INS and that ship rocks. Additional docs from Avsim then give you a complete and spot on package following the numbers.
Thanks for the info CP. I actually went to the CaptSim forum and took a look at the 757 section to get an idea of what mods might be required. I happened to see a thread about what users would like to see improved from the 4.4v and after glancing thru the thread I am not so sure. However, like I said the price is compelling, but even though its cheap, I just hate to buy it and be disappointed with things that dont work right. I had gotten into a bad habit of buying a/c on sale, like the 727 and C-130 from CS, and some stuff by Iris and Quest during their sales, then in the end either uninstalling the planes or not even using them much. In the case of the 727 and C-130, they work pretty well with the user patches applies, but I honestly never fly them except once or twice a year. I even bought the 727 expansions and never used them, same with the C-130. That's pretty much the reason I am not really sure if I should jump on the 757. I seem to always revert back to my standby LDS 767 and PMDG birds, and I can imagine that once I get the NGX, I will probably not even use the LDS or other PMDG birds very much.

True, that wishes and complains thread is a longer one. I couldn't follow all wishes, but such things as the pressurization are indeed items to work on, although you can't tweak there, you just have to wait for a fix. When reading about your preferences, maybe 757/767 aren't the ones to go then. If you like the steam driven birds though, you have to get the 707 at least. :(

Thanks for that CoolP. As I have now put in more than 30 hours in the wonderful 707Captain with its VC panel,I reckon I could live with the B-52's VC. It's just that some habits are so hard to die.A2A bring out some awesome aircraft.I remember reading the review in PC Pilot of their B-17(hope I have got that right?)and it went Platinum Award.

A2A clearly is top of the line.I wrote that in the other thread that they even get the magic running of selling totally "unwanted" aircraft to me. LOL.gifThat just means that, apart from the J-3 (which was a direct buy), I've got all their FSX stuff because of the great videos and user reports. I then got into those aircraft and fell in love with all that style. If you had asked me if I ever wanted to own a B-17 in the sim I had screamed 'no!". But those guys proved me wrong. Great work!

...Yes, the 767 has a cabin check/uncheck option in the ACE....
Is it possible that for the CS 757 as well?I think to take advantage of this unexpected sale to buy tomorrow the CaptainSim 757 for FSX, which at the moment the best 757 addon for the platform, I don't believe so much about the launch of the LVD 757 in next few years. Thanks bye.

C130 FTW - the "all in one" pack is INSANELY priced. I had to do it. I also got the 707 (skipped the military models).Nice.
