Externalities and the NGX

I have an unusual but urgent request. Please DO NOT release the NGX this week. There's a little sporting event taking place on Sunday, and between that game and a new airplane.....well, my head would just explode. :(

It would be good if there was an "Accusim" style wear and tear failure system. That would be really good to get unexpected failures mid flight and then have to consult the QRH to combat the failure..

O.K. Ron, we won't release it this week. biggrin.gifPete Mac PaintPMDG Graphic Designer
Not to nit pick, but I am by nature a nit picker.....please tell us that the wing lights we see in these pics are not the final version. They look like the 'Xmas tree lights from FS9 and ruin an otherwise beautifull plane.

Will you guys make up your mind! Half of you want it now, half are saying, "don't release it during xxx because xxx is happening." B) :( (Okay, it's not really half, half; but you know what i mean...And all this is purely meant to be humorous. :( )

I just went over the pics again and the HUGS landing shot suddenly got me thinking - will the EFIS panel still be operable via the mouse as seen in the shot? I just got thinking about it because I figured the combiner glass geometry might be in the way... with the EFIS clickspots being behind it. But maybe there is not even a 3D-modelled glass structure (just the border of it, which can clearly be seen in the shot) which would eventually prevent this potential problem?sig.gif

Hello everybody, This is my first time ever posting something in a forum, I m sorry for my english but is not perfect. The main reason that forced me to post something in here was This beautifull BIRD. Congratulations for the hard work that you are all performing. I just love the way the exterior model is turning out to be, like The Wings, the engines, landing gears, ailerons, flaps, cabin windows, fuselage but the Nose or the Face of this magnificent BIRD. It is almost perfect like the real deal, But in my own personal opinion i think that there are some small details here and there, that might need to be adjusted or corrected, I think that the exterior model is as important as the interior. In my opinion when talking about the exterior model and detail I would pay more attention to the nose or face of this Boeing. For example; The Eyebrows-- The angles, size and width of each widows' frameworks --The nose, and some other details that make this aircraft UNIQUE by its own LOOK , --->( A BOEING that can be recognised from any angle) I know you build this bird based to blueprints, it looks great. but not everythink turns out to be like in the blueprints, so it needs adjustments, and there is where the human eye comes in to judge our process in any project right or wrong our Eyes and the Brain connected together make the last touch of Perfection and detail. I Love this Bird inside and outside Thanks for the hard work trying to make this bird look like a REAL BOEING. but then again I might be Right or Wrong you be the judgeSERGIO D. SALAMANCA
I have to say, initially, I was slightly annoyed with this post as just another nit-picky comment. But I have to credit Sergio with being constructive and taking the time to show off his considerable Photoshop skills to illustrate his points. He has a very good eye for detail. And perhaps, this exemplifies the passion for our hobby and aviation in general that pervades this forum.I know in 3D modeling, it can be difficult to get everything perfect, even with blueprints and specs. Someone still has to do it and minor mistakes can be made. Also, quirks in the 3D display engine can be brought to light in a screen capture. Also keep in mind, PMDG is showing us a "preview", not the final version. There's a chance things may be tweaked in the final product.Having said that, here's a little perspective... Think about all the effort that had to go into simulating something like just one of the cockpit displays...believe me, it's quite an undertaking. Now tie in ALL the various displays, inputs, systems and flight characteristics being simulated and to the detailed extent that they are being simulated...all for around $100 USD. Think about that...it's amazing! I for one, am more interested on what goes on inside the cockpit and how accurately the aircraft flies compared to its real-life counterpart. Clearly, PMDG has put considerable effort into the modeling nearly every last detail into this sim and given the available man hours and relatively low cost, you cannot expect true perfection...but this seems darn close. Nice work PMDG! Chris Lundberg

hi pmdg teamthis is what i mean (even the 747 and the 737 default have it. how is possible that this effect is not done for 744x and md11? and what about the 737NG? the feeling i have is like a cockpit that the maintanance forgot to put the glass....a lot less realism for my opinion. im not asking the rain effect or something like that coz i know is not supported in fsx but just that effect that even the DEFAULT planes have:the J41 have it too.same situation is for the lateral glasses.

NGX will contain the 737-800 and 737-800 SFP or just a model 737-800?
No info on the package content was given yet.
Any new Pics or movies?+1 :(

Dearest rivet/angle/screw/parameter counters:Before you post further, please go off and have a look an any informational article explaining lens distortion. Cameras, though rather precise in copying what a human eye could see, do not directly translate the 3D image into 2D. Proportion will be off, especially in a few key areas of the frame because of the way the lens works. Furthermore, color will be off as well. No matter how many times you photograph something, you will never get it 100% correct, so your basis for your [asinine target] counting is baseless. As mentioned before, there is also an issue in trying to get a computer to render a 3D object on a 2D screen. There's a translation that occurs that is not entirely accurate. If you don't believe me, have a discussion with a cartographer.projections.jpgRendering a 3D object in 2D requires translation, and in that translation, the 3D object ceases to be 100% accurate. Basing your measures off of a photograph (which is also a 3D to 2D translation) introduces the translation error twice, so give it up. It has been stated multiple times that these measures from from Boeing's models directly. Any "errors" you may find can be directly attributed to that 3D to 2D translation error.

Well, TBH Kyle has made a very valid and valuable point that might be enlightening to those many who obviously don't know better... So why not appreciate that. :(sig.gif
