2019 saw the 75th anniversary of operation Market Garden. Many of you will have seen the film bridge too far or have read the book of the same name by Cornelius Ryan. In early 2020, DC3 Airways will, as a form of commemoration and remembrance, host a special event re-enacting s part of this huge operation by using 2 airfields to fly elements of the 82nd Airborne division to drop zones south of Nijmegen in the Netherlands. A package will be made available for FSX/P3D users and another package for X-Plane users. the package will include flight plans in both text and Little Navmap format, scenery and effects to provide short range NDB's at the historical wayp…

(I didn't know exactly, which forum section to put this... so I hope this is okay) Greetings, all! (not least of which you, @Flyer024) I'm writing this message to everyone in here. Most of all, the people who (unfortunately) were 'targets' from my recent outburst a couple of days ago. I won't name any names. The poor folk - you know who you are. However, in order for me to offer some sort of explanation I need to go back a couple of weeks. I have had - and to some extend still have - quite a difficult time in my personal life - both with regards to family- and relationship. Things are a bit intense at home, since unemployment and a stale job situation…

Hey guys and gals, I've been trolling the AVSIM forums and utilizing the library for years. My sim was down for about a year or so, but I am back and it feels great! If you poke around you'll see most of my posts are screenshots. I come from an aviation oriented family. Pops fly's a Bell 430, mom was a flight attendant for TWA many years ago and I currently am an air traffic controller. It's great to see positive interaction and professionalism throughout the forums. Glad to be here! Derek

Hi all! I already introduced myself in the New Member forums, but I thought I would come here and say hi as well. My name is Connor from the United States. I've owned MSFS for many years but just recently really started getting into flight simming as a legitimate hobby. I am not a real-world pilot and most likely never will be. I am a high school band director and private music instructor as my main trade. I've always been fascinated by both trains and airplanes. When I was a kid I built model railroads with my grandpa. Eventually I want to have the space to build my own layout, but until then flight simming is a venture tha…

Hello Everyone, Just thought i'd setup a poll here since iv'e received a lot of interest in a YVR meet-up. This is for anyone who wants to join for an afternoon of spotting at YVR. We can possibly make our way over to the flying beaver restaurant afterwards for dinner. (depending on how many confirm a date. I can make a reservation. (YVR Seaplane base). I created this poll since everyone may have different schedules. So please select the days you are able to attend and I will choose one afternoon which fits the best. If you have any other suggestions, Please let me know! Hope to meet some of you locals in the near future! Cheers,

I'm curious as to what the age range of my fellow flight simmers is. I'm 49 years old, and I love doing flight sim. My wife thinks I'm nuts and a tad obsessed about FS. I've been nuts about airplanes all my life and flight simming is way I can indulge my passion for aviation on the cheap. Is there anybody out there older than me, or am I the AVSIM senior citizen?

It was July 1995 when I purchased Flight Simulator 5.1, and the passion for this product has not eased up a bit (in fact it has gotten more intense), so it has been about 10 years for me. There's absolutely nothing like it!10 years for me - How long has it been it been for you? How long have you been Microsoft Flight Simming?RH

When I began this hobby-obsession-addiction, two years ago it was not til 6 months later that I discovered there was an entire flightsim community out there on the WWW like this site full of forums, downloads, and commercial products. Curious, how long did it take you to discover you were not alone?

Years ago it used to be a Long Island Ice Tea or a Cuba Libre (I still have one of them every so often), but now it's mostly Kettle One Martinis, extra dry, and either "Gibson" or "Gimlet". Used to use Absolut, but I prefer K1 now. Finlandia is not bad either, but Grey Goose is over-priced. ;-)After dinner it is either Sambucca Molinari (not Romana either!) or Quaranta y Tres.Thankfully, I have no desire for Louis XIII (despite its name), and at $150 a shot in this area, that's good!Yeah, probably not exactly the kind of post that TA had in mind for this forum.... but! :-lolRegards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...R_FORUM_LOU.jpg

Hi fellow simmers,I learned to fly in February of 1964 in a Cessna 150. And now I am part of a global community flying in a virtual world that I could not of imagined back then. I am wondering about my fellow sim pilots that make up this virtual reality. When did you learn to fly and in what? How far back do we go??? Best regards,Bill

I'm all in favour of getting to know who these names actually belong to. If you have a web site of your own, even if its just a pic of your baby daughter how about sharing it?Mine is below but isn't really a "personal" site. I'll add a page about me and might even include a pic. I'll do that in the next few days.I will add a link from my site to the site of anyone else if you ask me. That's not why I am asking though I just would like to know who I am talking to and perhaps you would too.Andrew BrownRoaring Thirtieshttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

I thought it would be fun to post a list of countries you have flown to. And somewhat masochistically, publish my very painful list. Keep in mind that I have been doing international flights since 1953 (yes, I count my flight to Hawaii in 1953 as an "international" flight), and everyone of the countries listed below represents hours spent painfully sitting on an airplane, in an airport, or in transit to the airport. My longest haul to date? 22.5 hours actual flying time, 34 hours from my door to the hotel bed (from Charlottesville, Virginia to the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra, Australia - twice in six weeks, I might add)... So, here is my list:EUROPE:NorwaySwedenFinlandDenmark…

Not very scientific this poll, but the result is 48! This could of course mean that the young ones don't bother to post (I have a couple of lazy ones in my house ;)). But it also means that if you're not a youth, and simming, you can tell you wife that this is normal behaviour.Thank's for posting everyone :)Eagle

Those of us (from around the world) that enjoy this wonderful hobby are probably a very diverse collection of people. I was curious if anyone has ever asked for feedback as to "What we all do in our REAL lives when we aren't flying from our desks?" Just curious!I'm a Pediatric Dentist, age 55, been flight simming since 1989.R/Mike
