NEW FSX. 4 Boeing 737-800 X2 Aircraft

Featured Replies

Nope, doing KSEA-KMSP, spent half an hour trying to set the FMC up according to the manual, done everything in order, fuel, wind speeds, temps etc etc, loaded 27,000lbs of fuel, the progress page on FMC says i'll have -120,000lbs of fuel when i get to KMSP.Just started push back and now "A fatal error has occured". Never had a single crash in FSX with any of my other aircraft, in hundreds if not thousands of hours. This is now my 3rd with the Ariane.I've had it with this airplane, uninstalling it, complete waste of money.

David"A leopard cannot change it's spots.".....But with the interest they're making on your (and probably lots of others) money, maybe they can subsidise the costs of making their FMC properly functional and not charge existing customers for it if and when it ever gets released!I hope your email to them was polite because if not, they may get the impression that one of their customers is unhappy or even a little angry with them for some (legitimate) reason, and then they'll think you're disloyal and continue to ignore you until they really upset you and then they'll blackball you altogether and complain to Tom about you because you didn't say nice things about them, and then......... :( IMHO, save yourself the tsooris and drinks bill, and simply demand your money back!Toni.
I don't buy Arianes theory that most pilots don't use VNAV for the decent at all. I would be VERY interested to find out who, if anyone, they surveyed.
It is a fact. Has to do with air traffic control constraints at busy airports. VNAV is alright for IDEAL environments and by the book STAR approaches, but at many airports one seldom gets these. If you still do not believe it, listen to LiveATC at EHAM (or any other airport), and you will hear pilots aborting STARS, cutting them short, slowing down, levelling off, all much easier achieved without VNAV. Not that I am defending Ariane, I still think their marketing is fraudulent and the product an overpriced joke. :)

I guess real pilots would know better. And there were a few pertinent comments already regarding the use of VNAV from real pilots somewhere up this long thread.I fly with VOX ATC mostly and never use VNAV in my flights, there are just too many specific inputs from ATC. Don't know if you can use VNAV frequently when flying online in IVAO or VATSIM. Dirk.
Who said they have improved their customer service ??
Who said it? "India Knight" said it! (See first post in this thread).
Things are changing at Ariane. A range of brand new products and new support policies is being introduced. We hope to make the Ariane experience a lot easier and more welcoming....Assuring you of our best attention at all times. I hope to meet you on our forum to hear your ideas as well as your views. India Knight Support and Customer Liaison
And "India Knight" is obviously a real live flesh-and-blood person, and who could disbelieve someone with a name so suggestive of chivalry and honour, so it must be true that the "Ariane experience" is indeed improving! Your experience, David, can only be a one-in-a-thousand statistical aberration. :(

In order to make things clear:We definitely use VNAV on descent when there is no oppositon from ATC.Generally until TA.We also use it on Continuous decent arrival (CDA) which is a procedure whereaircraft descend from a high altitude without leveling off (a.k.a continuous decent approach). We generally use Level change in busy environment though. When I do a LLBG-LLET the decent is ALWAYS following the vertical nav computed attitude.

Are you sure you didn't order the "bespoke" manuals with alligator skin covers? :( Because these take time and would involve a trip to Florida. But kidding aside, I am sorry to hear about this and hope you get it resolved soon.

LMAOJoking aside that does seem a bit cr*p in terms of service. Have you tried the Ariane forum thingy and posted a mention on there?Al

It must a shrewd new marketing initiative: Alienate an administrator of one of the most popular Flight Sim websites, especially when a review of your product is in the works.Thaellar

Whilst full VNAV approaches are rarely used in RL, it is certainly not a justifiable excuse for the feature to be inop in the product, should you choose to use it.

Yup, I agree with that, and to be honest it lets down what is otherwise a pretty damn good add-on, because frankly, some aspects of the Ariane 737 wipe the floor with the competition, which makes that failing all the more disappointing.Obviously I'm going to expand on that opinion and feature a bit more about the matter in the review I'm doing, notably because some aspects of VNAV do indeed work, but as you say, 'most pilots do this' is no real excuse for not having a feature work like it should.I'm awaiting a reply to an email I sent to Ariane regarding if and how such things will be addressed - only sent that email last night, therefore I wouldn't expect to get something back straight away given all the technical questions I asked - so when they respond it will be pretty much the last piece I need to complete my review. Which, incidentally, is basically finished now apart from those details needed to make it completely up to speed with where Ariane are going as far as functionality is concerned. There is some interesting stuff they have planned on that front from what I can gather, which to be fair looks very innovative and 'right up the propellerhead's street', so I want to include as much as I can about what they have in the pipeline. Whatever they do, they need to do it quick though, because as we are all aware, that PMDG NG is right up the Ariane 737's kazoo, looming large in the rear view mirror and coming up quick.Hope you all like a long read by the way, because that is what you are in for LOLAl

It does appear that their entire business plan is based on PT Barnum's model... :(
