Limiting Live traffic to specific airport ?

Featured Replies

Well...sometimes you should be afraid of your own wishes, as one said...:-)

Since most of large airports in the US works exceptionally well PSXT, it creates another issue - a lot of live traffic that in turn make sound on my PC crackling (amazingly, FPS are not affected). Is it possible to limit live traffic to those planes that comes in and out of predefined airport? I know there is an option to limit live traffic to specific number, but it does not look realistic. Radius limitatiom does not work as well, as at KORD alone, for example, you may see ~50AI on the ground and ~25 in 10mines vicinity, assuming STAR configuration.  Also, KORD has neighboring traffic from KMDW and, on a top of that, plenty of overfliers from WC to EC and vice versa

Curious if you have the sound problem at Flightbeam KDEN - it's the one that causes the worst sound crackling problems for me. By the time I limit traffic enough to kill the sound problem there's not much traffic left (of course I have a rather weak system...at least CPU). I find it interesting that at some larger, more complex addon airports, I don't seem to have the depth of sound issues I have at KDEN.

Yes, KDEN too (actually, now I have this scenery from other developer and I highly recommend it), but limiting radius of arriving planes to 10nm helps, but this trick does not work in KORD, as it has KMDW + overfliers.

Something is really weird with the sound in MSFS. I also have FS2Crew and FSHud and they do not crackle at KORD, as they are external programs, but internal sound (including AI sound) crackling like a crazy.

Curious if reducing sound quality in either MSFS or Win might help. Will try later tonight.

Interesting thought.

I'm also wondering if not only is it system specific, but motherboard/onboard sound chip specific. One would think we'd hear a bunch of complaining if many folks were experiencing this.

It's been a while since positioned at KORD (I assume you mean FSDT ORD and DD KMDW) but I'll try it tomorrow and see how sound performs.

Seems like I recall in another thread somewhere that a user suggested disabling/deleting airport sound files, and that the only airports the user experienced sound issues were airports that had their own sound files.

I just checked and FB KDEN has no sound files, but DD KMDW and FSDT KORD have sound files.

I have wireless headset, no external sources of sound as these were forcefully disabled in Windows to avoid potential conflicts.

I don't understand what you mean by this. Sound through your wireless headset is still first processed by the audio driver and hardware sound circuits on the motherboard, otherwise how would you direct output to your headset.
