Invisible aircraft in flight

Featured Replies

Hello!

using psxt with msfs 2020 and FSTL base models. At airports, works great. Aircraft taxiing , taking off and landing. But en route, I see them on tcas and they have contrails, but the aircraft is invisible. Any suggestions?

thanks

How far away are the aircraft? If the aircraft are more than a few miles away, the contrails will be visible but the aircraft will be too small to make out.

Had an aircraft climbing from my left to right. Passed directly beneath me. Was in the pmdg 738 at FL370. Got a tcas RA. The contrail zipped by with no aircraft. Next time I will pay more attention to the distance of the aircraft. Thanks for the help!

If you've got a TCAS RA, the aircraft must have been there too.

Another thing... in MSFS, the contrails don't start immediately at the aircraft model. The contrail begins some distance behind the aircraft, so if you are trying to spot the jet, look a bit ahead of the beginning of the contrail.

(This happens in real life too, that the contrails don't start right at the aircraft, unlike the wake of a ship which is always attached to the ship. But the effect is exaggerated in MSFS.)
