December 3, 20241 yr I've been meaning to fly (and test) the B748 in MSFS2024 since some time, so, today, I gave it a try for the first time. This is an airplane I've special liking for because I'd a chance to see one in assembly inside the Boeing Everett Factory building, during one of my two visits to the city of Seattle. Anyway, when I tried to launch/fly this aircraft in the SIM today, I was rather (unceremoniously) thrown off the cockpit, by MSFS2024, at least a couple of times, back to the (TV) desktop of my Xbox Home Screen. Fortunately, the third attempt proved to be my charm when the flightdeck and the a/c finally loaded properly for me to conduct a short test-flight...🙂...so, pleased about it... So, here you go, as I lift off Rwy 36R (KMCO) and then land back on (ILS) Rwy 18R of the same airport. In MSFS2020, I used to fly the 748 often, but, not sure, if I've lost that magic touch with it...🙂...because, here, in the final bit of landing/approach phase, the a/c seemed to lose altitude much more rapidly than I was expecting, so I landed short of the Runway...(however, pictures of such evidence have been judiciously excluded below...🙂...), otherwise the rest of the flight (climb to 3,000 ft and LNAV Dir-To guidance to the approach Fix of ILS Rwy 18R etc.) all went smoothly enough. I plan to do one more practice run with this a/c in MSFS2024 soon... Please find, below, this collection of pictures of the (modern) Queen of the Skies...🙂...from my short flight today in and around Orlando/KMCO, an airport I'd visited just 2-3 months ago, flown in from KORD, by a UAL 737 MAX 9. While landing there, I distinctly recall the patches of water (small lakes and ponds) visible from the air, which are also seen in my images below. Florida has more naturally formed lakes than any other southeastern State. The abundance of lakes (an estimated 7,800) on the natural Florida peninsula is a result of the geologic history of the State. The time of this flight is ~ (5-6) pm (local) in the evening...! And, BTW, you may also notice that I've replaced my Co-Pilot...purely on the ground of unacceptable hairstyle...🙂...Oh well... Thanks for viewing and hope you enjoy...! [John: Yes, the upgrade has surely paid off....🙂...Now I'm not distracted much in the cockpit by bad hairstyle...🙂.... Seriously, this hairstyle is adjustable in MSFS2024. I just need to pick the right one to put on top of my virtual aviator partners, but frankly, I think none are good enough for the local "Mario Tricoci" to be proud of...🙂...] On 12/3/2024 at 12:38 AM, pmplayer said: Fine capture - the Jumbo still flies.. cheers 😉 Thank you, pmplayer.
