EGLC - Lifting off Rwy 27 & landing into Rwy 09...

Featured Replies

Today, I just wished to quickly test the London cityscape, as everyone seems to be doing after the World Update XVII. In my Xbox/MSFS virtual system, I've generally tended to stay off London Cityscape. This is because, as I would get closer and closer to the heart of the City, the preponderance of the building structures, constantly mushrooming off the ground, in front my flight path, and then taking some kind of detectable shape, only to resemble the mythical Gothic cities of my (younger days) Superheroes...🙂... just didn't lend to any kind of "As real as it gets" feeling touted in our SIM world...

I recall, however, I'd done, here, one (transatlantic) A318 flight into EGLC, a short while ago, to mimic the once-operating (and now-discontinued) prestigious BA1 Flight between New York City and London (City)...the flight had taken over the legendary "BA001" no. from BA Concorde. The service was (apparently) widely loved and admired, of course, in the biz-world...not for the mundane economy pax travelers like I am...🙂...Actually, the transatlantic capable A318 was one of the rare twinjets of this type approved and allowed into EGLC airport (now a days, the A220 and E190 have become the primary commercial jet a/c providing service into the airport).

Anyway, for this (test) flight, I have also deployed an A318, lifting off Rwy 27 westward from London City Airport, proceeding straight out ~20+ miles, over and across the main cityscape, into the suburban zones, then making a U-turn back...to align myself for an ILS landing into Rwy 09.

For nostalgic reasons, I've used the United Battleship Livery (with Saul Bass's "Tulip" logo). The iconic Tulip symbol was introduced in 1974 and would persist on the UA tail (in one form or another) till 2010, before been replaced by the Continental Globe.

And, in my judgement, on my Xbox system, with PG set to Off, (post-Update) London definitely looks much better. I would not call it perfect...but it will do for me now...🙂...

Thanks for viewing...!

Nice screenies, F_7878! I don't know why, but when I fly into Berlin or Paris I don't experience any drop in FPS. Only when I go into Lonfon, they go down. Maybe, just maybe, them Brits don't want us strangers there 😃😃

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080

Folks: Many thanks for your comments.

🙂…Bernd, seems true in our virtual world only…🙂…it’s getting better though. I would like to visit that nice Heathrow Terminal 5 one more time…was there first time, the year it opened…

Cheers…!

Great set P_7878, nice views of the scenery and the "baby" airbus.🙂 I don't have it but I like to fly the A320 more than the larger airbus.
