Never tried using a vr controller  to use the yoke , would seem very unnatural. Why not plug a yoke in you don’t need to see it to use it , or something like an x box controller .?

I think the majority of MSFS aircraft are not really set up to support VR controllers, some do better than others but many actually warn you that VR controllers are not supported. External hardware is still the best control method.

Yes - this ^

It is one of the great mysteries of life:

X-plane adopted VR years and years ago and the controllers always worked well, and still do.  However, their VR mouse always was a total mess, and still is.

Then MSFS comes along and is a complete game-changer.  And yet: their VR mouse control works extremely well.  But controllers?  Forget it.

For MSFS in VR, I think most of us tend to use physical yoke/stick and VR mouse for knob & switch manipulation.
