March 14, 20242 yr I have been so exited about Polly Amazon voices since I saw this video on youtube. But finding out how to get it working has been a nightmare. First off I haven't done any sort of testing sofar. I have only tried to gather information about the facts and the process. The only thing I have done sofar is create a user at AWS (Provider of the service). I have come across this tutorial: https://torontoai.org/2019/09/25/using-amazon-polly-in-windows-applications/ Because I have understood from the video that PILOT2ATC uses the windows TTS engine to generate speech inside the application. Is this where I should start? Kind Regards Morten Edited March 14, 20242 yr by mortenha69 ----------------------------------------------- Morten Haughom Greetings from the sticks! Looking at their page, installation and use seems very simple. Install and done! Right? I haven't even made a Polly profile yet, so no money spent sofar. Just a couple of questions: Buying a voice from CereProc makes it mine, no subscription? Easy to install and use? Voice can be chosen in P2A? March 15, 20242 yr I‘ve bought and install some Cereproc voices some years ago. There is no subscription - just pick your desired voice, grab your credit card and let the installer doing its thing. You are always be able to install and uninstall your purchased voices if you wish. All you need is your user login to verify your credentials. Initially, the voices worked pretty well. But months later they didn‘t anymore - at least for me and on my system. I have no idea, why. Sometimes it works, quite often not. Just a note: Maybe you should try only one voice first for testing purposes. I have recently installed additional windows voice packages like described here in one of the topics and this works for me nearly perfect. Good luck. Cheers - Chris
March 16, 20242 yr Commercial Member You can purchase Cereproc or IVONA voices, or any other SAPI 5 Desktop voices. Just be sure that they are Desktop and SAPI5 compliant. This thread has all the info you need about voices, including how to install all the Microsoft Windows voices using a single utility program: Amazon discontinued support and availability of their Polly for Windows program, and as many have said, it worked hit and miss. March 19, 20242 yr Somebody posted an archive of the Polly Player for Windows so I thought I'd give it another shot. Like before, it's hit or miss. Sometimes it works when I start the software the first time, others times it might be the 3rd or 4th attempt. I go into Config and play each Polly voice before I set up my flight. If they play, then they will work for the entire flight. If not, I have to restart P2A. Cost wise I spend about $0.25 a month, but I don't use it for every flight. You have to give your CC details when setting up your AWS account, and it's automatically charged to the card. All in all, it was a bit of a chore to set up, but now that I have it up and running it works pretty well. One thing to note, not all Polly voices will work, but there are around 20 that do. I have a different Polly voice in each position.
March 19, 20242 yr Been down this road no thanks I got Cereproc but hey if it works for you that cool,
