Meaning of waypoints in red text inside conversation panel

Featured Replies

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I have searched and searched for this. I am getting waypoints in red text in the grammar window - just on their own line, not on any speech line.

Is this just P2A showing it's recognised/reached the waypoint or does it mean the aircraft has missed the waypoint and P2A is flagging an error ?

I am having a problem where I am flying the approach as requested by approach, but I am never handed over to tower. I am expecting something like "contact tower when inbound on the approach" and then getting landing clearance from the tower when contacting them and saying something like "inbound on the approach". I am able to continue and land, but obviously don't get shouted at by tower because I haven't been handed over and thus tuned to tower.

The meaning of green and "gold" text in the grammar window is explained everywhere on the internet and in the manuals, but not red.

The waypoints shown in Red are the "Next ATC Waypoint", meaning the next waypoint that ATC sees in its version of the flight plan.  This is normally useful in debugging and is controlled by an Option in Config, at the bottom of the ATC Settings tab.

There were some issues with the handover to Tower in some earlier betas.  Make sure you're on the latest beta and if it happens again, email the P2A Log file to [email protected] with an explanation of what happened and I'll have a look.

P2A Log files are located in:

C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\P2A_200\Logs
where <UserName> is your PC user name.

Portions of the path may be hidden by default, so be sure Windows Explorer has Show Hidden Items checked in the View tab.

A new one is created each time you start Pilot2ATC, and is closed when you shut it down. So if you take the most recent one after you have the error and after you shut down P2A, you should have the correct one.

Ah, OK thanks Dave.

I'm an word not allowed - it is indeed in the manual. I searched the manual for "red text" - should have just searched for "red" (although there are 173 instances of red, lol)

I'm trying various "course deviation" settings for the other problems I was having, and since the last 2 flights had a teardrop approach I think according to the logs P2A thinks I am already at final approach fix, when in fact I've only really just entered the teardrop.

Hi Dave,

Sent you another log file. Interested to see what you think, but as I said in the mail, I'm thinking it's PC not powerful enough syndrome.

Cheers.
