Missing effects in P3D

Featured Replies

Hello, guys, so, here's my problem - from some time I am noticing that my effects in P3D ether do not show up in sim or they show up incorrectly. Something fishy is happening and I need help.

I'll give an example - look at this video of mine:

I want you to notice how the waves are appearing. This is symptom no.1.

They appear incorrect as you notice.

However a year ago I did not had that problem. For example, check this video around the turn after takeoff marker around 1:01:

As you can see here there is effects waves on the sea, that are from Flight Sim Jewels. Curiously they work occasionally, but right now they are not.

From some time my P3D v4.5 HF3 just do not display those effects, but sadly also do not display my Aurora Borealis effects from Envtex as well.

Something is happening. I need help understanding why.

Hi @PavlinS

The vertical wave issues are related to the wave fx files not being compatable.

However adjusting those wave affect fx files is an easy job as they are just text files.

I first noticed the issue myself in Orbx scenery where I'd installed packages to P3D libraries rather than directly in the sim, where I found the issue occured due to the self contained nature of a Library as Orbx had not updated all their wave fx files to the newer required format.

Previously with all effects contained in the sim effects folder updated files would overwrite older incompatible ones and you'd be none the wiser, however the separation into libraries creates standalone Effects folders for the package and thus the incompatible fx files tend to be used.

To resolve you'll need to update all the wave fx files manually (they are just text files that need an edit) and/or install the Orbx shoreline waves package, I did both.

And if you are using other packages for waves you'll also need to look at them as well.

The Orbx link below has the details for the fixes required and how to perform them.

Rogen, SO MUCH THANK YOU.

It worked. I just needed "Ground Decal=1" below "Ground Normal=1" and they magically appeared. Honestly, I was so happy when I seen them - I edited some part of the effect in effect editor.

here's a picture:

So happy, finally waves the way I want them. But, unfortunately I see them only in Polynesia. Why not anywhere else?

How about the Aurora? I still do not see it in sim even in the proper place / time?
