MCE for keypress ?

Featured Replies

Hi I just got a demo on my new install and it is looking pretty good with PMDG and MSFS, but i have couple of questions.

1. can I use MCE for keypress (sort of like using voice attack) reason for that is that I want to move all together to MCE as it worked very nice in my first flight with 737 instruments radios etc., but there are few commands I use that require key press as I play in VR (I cannot see keyboard), these are view changes (mostly). I have custom views set to to numpad keys 0-9 so I would like to say "view 7" and then have MCE press "Numpad 7", I can run voice attack alongside of MCE but VA seems to have problems pressing numpad keys, unless I mute MCE, even pressing physical numpad keys when MCE is listening does not work.. not sure what might cause that.. well either way I would prefer to run only MCE and be done with Voice Attack

2. I watched a stream on Twitch where MCE called in crossing 10000ft, it did not happen in my flight and I couldn't find any option for that, how can I have my FO call crossing 10000ft I always forget, great reminder for landing lights etc.

3. Although I fly 99% PMDG 737 I think buying the MCE MSFS Edition is better option then just buying the PMDG only option. My understanding is that MCE MSFS Edition includes all aircraft in MSFS, well maybe not all, but that are supported and I won't need to buy PMDG version extra as it is included same as the FBW and Fenix.

Thanks

Sure can Andy.

1. Click Windows Start->Multi Crew Experience->VoxKey.

VoxKey is just an editor. It allows you to have similar functionality to VoiceAttack, without the need to run a second instance of the speech engine.

For MSFS, open the "FS2020.vkp" profile.

Add your VoiceAttack commands related to "views changes" to Voxkey profile and close it when done.

When MCE starts, depending on which running flight sim is detected, it will look-up the relevant Voxkey profile, in your case "FS2020.vkp", and make those custom commands available for speech recognition. They will then act as if VoiceAttack was picking them up.

Before you start adding stuff, make sure the custom commands don't already exist. Built-in commands always take precedence over custom ones. And don't bother adding commands to manipulate aircraft switches and dials. Keyboard commands aren't suitable for these. There are tens of thousands of built-in commands that will control cockpit items acurately and directly.

See this video

All the listed commands (not all of them are lsited) can be used as direct speech commands or added to some custom flow to handle emergencies and such.

Because it can be frustrating when you're in VR and can't recall exactly what to say for items you use very rarely, be aware, in addition to verbiage flexibility, MCE lets you "educate" the crew to understand ANY speech that flows to your head naturally. The only crew simulation on the market that has this capability. Yes, VoiceAttack lets you make your own commands, but you end-up with a trigger, therefore not always accurate switching, that is if the switch can respoond to a key combo in the first place.

See this thread

2. The 10000 call-out is standard and applies across all aircraft. The Fo is expected to make it between 9600 & 10400 or something like that. It might have been missed because he was busy on something else.

3. If PMDG 737 is the only plane you fly, then the "Multi Crew PMDG 737" specific product at 20 bucks (with recurrent training capability) is a no brainer.

If there are at least 3 planes in your hangar you would need a fully rated co-pilot for, then the MSFS edition is the best choice even though it may appear as expensive at first glance. It's actually a steal, and the reason it's never discounted,  considering so far it provides both voice control & Button control for these planes in MSFS

PMDG 737

Fenix A320  (includes FO capability to dial, FCU HDG, ALT, SPD as well as radios, something most people think cannot be done with this plane)

FlyBywire mod

Inibuild A310

Aerosoft CRJ

MaddogX  (Voice control for now, with Button control in the process of being added)

CS 767 & 777

All ASOBO planes (voice control only for now)

Within 2 months will support Just Flight BAe146

later, PMDG 777 & PMDG 747.....

Whatever other plane worth multi-crewing. For instance we just added support to iFly 737 MAX in Prepar3D V5. It will be very easy to support it in MSFS edition when it eventually comes to that platform.

All at no additional cost for Ultimate edition or MSFS edition owners (since we already support many to extreme detail in Prepar3D & FSX in Ultimate Edition)

so i just bought it and i used the activate from the demo version, asked me to send email to [email protected] sent the txt file what not... I guess i now just wait for the activation key, but my question is: I bought the MSFS version since i do not use other sim i don't care for ultimate, but the demo is ultimate will it work and just software will downgrade itself and become MSFS version or do I have to uninstall the demo first.

I kind of don't want to loose my fs2020.vkp and checklist that I edited for my 738 :)

Welcome aboard Andy.

The vkp profile is saved to \My Documents\Voxkey\ folder. It's never automatically deleted.

The customised scripts are saved to \My Documents\Multi Crew Experience\ folder.

They never get overwritten following an update.

If using a custom checklist, make sure you have your own file (with a custom name) rather than edit one of the existing files in \Multi Crew Experience\Checklists\ folder, as these are part of the package and get removed when un-installing.

The main diference beyween MSFS edition and Ultimate is that the latter will happily support planes in Prepar3D & FSX, whereas the MSFS edition will only work with MSFS and whatever fully supported planes are loaded.

Should have received a download link for MSFS edition.

We're based in the United Kingdom (England, Europe), therefore may take a few hours before you get a reply.
