November 13, 20223 yr Hi, Good day everybody I am using Addon Linker to link the addons from the Official Folder to save space on my disk. But, when entering the Custom Official folder and MSFS Official folder, a warning says: "...The folder storing the official add-ons can not be a subfolder of one your normal addons folder! I have followed the tutorial. What I am doing wrong? Thank you, and have a nice day IPA
November 13, 20223 yr Where is your "new" Community folder? It sounds like you are trying to put your addons into a sub folder of the current Community folder. The real Community folder on my system is located at: 'E:\MSFS\MSFS\Community\' I put my addons in my "personal" community folder located at 'E:\MSFS\MSFS Add Ons and SW\My Community\' In order to help you, please tell us the full path names to where your real Community folder is, and the new folder you are trying to use as your "new" community folder. November 14, 20223 yr Author MDFlier Thank you for your reply. I am already using Addon Linker for the community folder. My issue is when I try to set up a link from the Official folder. In Addon Linker, you have the option (TAB Advanced) to link not only the Community folder but the official too. So, there is my problem. I have two options 1. Custom official addons folder (the new folder ) and MSFS Official/One store Folder: (the folder where currently is the Official folder). When I write the path, these warning comes out "...The folder storing the official add-ons can not be a subfolder of one your normal addons folder!
November 14, 20223 yr Hello @ipa Due to the way the tool is programmed 🙃, the custom official folder (from which links will be created to the official/onestore folder and not in the community folder) needs to be completely separate from the other folders where you store your addons. So if you have set your custom addons folder to be here -> E:\Games\MSFS_Addons (those are the folder(s) you set in the first tab of the options screen in the 'My Addons folder' section) For the official addons folder ('advanced tab', field 'custom official folder) : this would be incorrect -> E:\Games\MSFS_Addons\Official this would be correct -> E:\Games\MSFS_Addons_Official The 2 folders need to be completely separate, one can not be inside the other (i can explain why if the judge requires it otherwise it's too complicated 😱🙈😁) Some info about that feature in the link below, check also the following replies, at the top of the next page there is also a post by a user that had the same problem as you (was trying to use a subfolder of the main) As indicated, this option is for advanced users, make sure you understand how it works 100% and try only first with few addons. Feel free to recontact me if needed and if you still can't figure it out (and tell me the folders you have set in the options screen). Take care ! 🍻 Edited November 14, 20223 yr by Bad_T
February 3, 20233 yr Author BadT: Some kind of late, but Thank you so much. Finally, I could move some addons using the advanced option. IPA
August 16, 20232 yr Note: If you don't know where the "Advanced" tab of Addon Linker is located, well it's not seen on the main screen. You must first click the leftmost top icon (Options). Then you will see the Advanced Tab up on top. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
August 28, 20232 yr After installing the extracted folders for a new glider into my community folder the new aircraft failed to show up. At the suggestion of a friend who uses Add-On Linker I watched a YT video and then installed Add-on Linker, but didn't yet populate this. Now almost everytime I start MSFS it shuts down by itself.
