December 20, 20214 yr After the recent Varig (PP-VOI) repaint, I thought I would do a couple "easier" ones...these two took about 1/3 of the time as the last repaint. I realized 3 of the first 4 CS B767-II repaints done were either inactive and/or obsolete airlines. Time to do a couple of active airframes. I decided to repaint a Japan Airlines livery. This one caught my eye...JA613J. JAL is currently the largest PAX carrier with the B767-300ER. While the B767 no longer flies International routes, the 26 aircraft still in the fleet do fly domestic routes, typically under 2 hours duration. I hadn't heard of Royal Air Maroc - Cargo until I saw this aircraft...an ERBDSF (2018) conversion. I thought the livery was kind of cool...yet simple. Apparently this livery can be seen in several major cities in Europe as well as the far east...it also compliments a lot of the third party payware sceneries I already have. Hope you enjoy the photos!
December 21, 20214 yr Great paints! CS is having its annual $9.99 sale right now.....I'm so tempted....may actually buy the 767 as it is a good aircraft and for 9.99....a good deal regardless of their support practices. 🙂 I just wish the 767 wasn't my favorite airframe, hehe. I might be asking you for some of your paints to fly around. 🙂 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here
December 21, 20214 yr Author Thanks Steve! For $10, you won't be disappointed in the CS767. It's a really well done visual model. The flight dynamics aren't bad...all textures are 4K. The paintkit has very few flaws. TSS also has the GE soundset available for an additional $20. If you search YouTube for "A T" you'll also find a couple of videos with a link for some additional sounds and aircraft states. It's just too bad there is no working cargo door on the freighter...hence my reluctance to paint those! Currently working on the ANA Retro (JA602A) paint scheme...hope to have that one done before Christmas. (I need to go back and repair my ACA Free Spirit livery...figured out how to correctly blank the correct windows and I'd like to add the Selcal Code to the VC panel like some of my later paints...and the Air New Zealand repaint...I want to tweak the APU area a little...I messed up the layers in my haste to publish that one...the dirt textures are out of order on that one.) I'm enjoying flying and painting this one at the moment! Really proud of the Varig one. There are a ton of Air Do and JAL colorful repaints left to do on some still active airframes! I was considering the old LTU-SUD livery...I may leave that one to you now. I also have the Aloha Air Cargo (N399CM) one as a shelved WIP...the text on the engines needs a lot of massaging...you'd do wonders on that one I'm sure! Your talents will definitely make this CS model more attractive as a tubeliner option! Edited December 21, 20214 yr by rmeier
December 24, 20214 yr Very nice work...with compliments from Steve D, especially...🙂... The JAL ones do have bits of intricate lettering... I put an image below, with your advance permission...the Airline is headquartered in GMMN/Casablanca (Morocco)... I certainly recognize and appreciate the comments from Steve D...of course with his recent AAL B767 screenshots, I can't help but think my repaints still look "cartoonish"! 😁 (I'll keep practicing!) Casablanca is one airport I don't have...I did see it was on sale. I think I have all the other airports RAM-Cargo flies to. Thanks again!

Casablanca is one airport I don't have...I did see it was on sale. I think I have all the other airports RAM-Cargo flies to. Thanks again! Keep at it...your paints improve with every pixel you lay on the canvas! Don't be afraid to try new techniques. 90% of getting good is literally repetition. 🙂 I've long since lost count of how many I've painted in the last 2 decades, and looking back at old ones, I cringe at the quality back in the early days, hehe. But that also had to do with we were painting on 1024 maps vs the 4096 we do today (16 times the resolution). Taking on bare metal was a very special and rewarding challenge when PBR came to town, and I've learned many new techniques since the advent of the technology. You really are creating 2 paints with bare metal...5 actually if you count the albedo and each of the 4 channels you have to paint on the metallic maps. But the outcome....sooooo worth it when the sun hits the plane just right and you find yourself instinctively squinting when the actual light output is no greater than the white background of this post. 🙂 If you're using photoshop, go find some great instructional vids out there on how to do things....like these 2 for starters... this one below shows you how to change colors...a cool way to quickly change the color of a Carenado paint without messing with its horribly laid-out texture maps. 🙂 And this to learn the mighty PEN tool. Keep painting and experimenting with new tools...its the only way to get better. 🙂 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here
