Kitfox STi Review

Featured Replies

A huge issue with the Kitfox in my opinion. Well, two really but one might be a deal-breaker.

First, the flaps aren't modeled on the aircraft. They are on the flight model, but not the visual of the plane. For a bush plane that's a big deal as you would look over for visual confirmation while flying all the time.

The other glaring issue IMO is that it makes all your scenery look horrible out the glass. Go to an outside view or another plane and its sharp as a tack, but inside the scenery looks all muted and low res.

Example here in this review:

Yeah, I bought the Kitfox for the heck of it because I love all the variety I can get in low-and-slow planes and it's a small gamble, but it really doesn't have much going for it at all.   The texturing is mediocre, the modelling is off as noted here, and it really doesn't add anything that's not already present amongst the existing Cub-likes.   I'd save the $9 USD or whatever it was if I had the chance to do it again.

Edit:   The biggest texturing flaw for me is on the tires.   With the big ground-view windows there you can spend a lot of time looking low to the side, but when you do you have ugly low-res tire textures with an unnatural sheen staring you right in the face.  Even fixing that plus the flaps would be a big improvement.

I also just noticed another missing animation as I was giving it another go just now:  toe brakes.  The pedals don't move at all when you're braking.

Yeah, seems like a bit of a quick X-Plane port which is kind of a cash grab to be first to market. Hoping this gets fixed. The flaps and blurry textures would be a deal breaker for me.
