Did somebody succeed recording a flight with FRAPS ? work fine with FSX with MFSF it records the sound but playback a black image

I don't know about FRAPS (haven't used it in like 10+ years didn't know it was still around), but I just tried with OBS which can record not just stream and it worked just fine.  You could always try that out.  It's free which is a bonus.

Nvidea shadowplay has worked the best for me. If you have an Nvidia card. Very smooth and easy.

I use fraps to monitor my FPS.

But its important to notice that last version of Fraps is from year 2013. So its time to let it rest.

There are at least 2 good options to record video, Nvidia geforce exprerience (as slides mention) or Microsoft Game bar.  ( https://www.windowscentral.com/xbox-game-bar )

fraps is not able to do games in the latest DirectX 11 & 12. Check out bandicam or hope that maybe it gets updated

Not true. FRAPS can happily record the new MS Flight Sim, which is DX11, I tested it five minutes ago and it recorded it just fine, audio and video. What it cannot record, is P3D V5, because that is DX12.

I've been use the ATI utility to record the new sim, but I could use FRAPS, because it does work.

interesting. I'll admit I was assuming from experience in another game that I was using Fraps on and when it upgraded to DX11 fraps just stopped working and recorded a black screen like OP stated.

Yup, it was an assumption I kind of made too based on experience with P3D V5, but I cranked up FRAPs the other day just to use its FPS counter, and for the hell of it I hit record and Bob's yer Uncle, it worked. Just goes to show what happens when we assume things.

People still use fraps when there are so many alternatives? 

FRAPS screenshots come out black here too, have not tried recording. 

Fraps hasn't been upgraded for a long long time so that many users have capture problem with it. I guess your black screen may be a compatibility issue. So why don't you try some other frequently-upgraded game recording software like OBS, recorder from AMD/Nvidia graphics card software, Ezvid, Bandicam, RecMaster ...
