August 4, 20205 yr Wow, if Anchorage is all on autogen as said in this video that is so unbelievable. MSFS autogen is literally million times better than anything offered by FSX, P3D and XP. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11
October 12, 20205 yr Here's hoping they can do something about the areas of alaska that have next to no real life textures and also the rivers that run up and down hill. In other areas it is truly stunning, but sadly these problems spoil the immersion at the moment.

But flying into PADQ a bit ago and looking over and seeing the town of Kodiak, showed where MSFS is superior. No doubt we will have Alaska looking good in the future, even if it's from an addon product.
October 12, 20205 yr I've been flying along the Alaska coast and landing at Sitka on Saturday it frankly looked like I was flying FSX. Terrible. It seems to be getting worse the farther north I go. A lot of the digital elevation models are lower resolution as you go north due to the orbital inclinations of the radar satellites used to gather the data being optimized for best resolution at more populated latitudes. The airport at Seward which would be my next stop on my around the world flight is not there, because Bing's aerial data apparently wasn't high enough resolution for the AI to decide to place the runways where.. I'm hoping the 'United States' world update also covers Alaska. AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals
October 12, 20205 yr Alaska is pretty disappointing in MSFS. Low resolution mesh, many areas with landclass textures instead of photoscenery, low resolution vector data that lead to angular shaped water masks at the coastlines, elevation issues with inland water bodies, missing airports like Valdez, Seward and now even Lake Hood. I hope this will be improved by the announced USA world update.
October 12, 20205 yr Alaska was one of the first places I looked at, but so far also the most disappointing. Hoping the USA country update will sort that out.
