February 22, 20206 yr Hello All. I have FSX Gold Plus Acceleration disc , on the box it states from 6 + ie from the age of 6 upwards, I use to fly a four engine jet, but this is most difficult set up I ever encountered. I have files all over the place it’s a nightmare, somehow I don’t think it will ever work. I can’t even Romberg my driver letters so let’s say 😄 and F:. i have tried to follow a video , but think it’s and not detail enough , it tells you to copy all the msi files over to the client, but does not say where to place them or how to copy them over. Main PC Windows 10 is on Drive C: and FSX on Drive F: Main PC , Drive C:>Program Files x86>MS Games>MS FSX SKD>SKD>Core Utilities>SimConnect SKD>Folders Legacy Interface and lib. Open the legacyInterface you get Two Folder FSX-RTM and FSX-SP1, each of these contains a SimConnect msi. file. Open lib , to get another SimConnect msi.file, So three in total I think there should be more 4 in all?. Still Main PC go to Programs and Features, in the list. SimConnect CLIENT v 10.0.6.60905.0. v10.0.61242.0. v 10.0.61259.0 All Three to be copied to the Client PC. Think there should be one more? MS Simulator X SDK SP1 A v 10.0.61355.0 MS Simulator Acceleration. v10.061637.0 MS Simulator Acceleration SDK v10.0.661637.0. MSXML 4.0 SP2 Parser and SDK All OK , How do I copy the thee files over to the Client PC. The path is the same as the Main PC. Ie Client PC>C Drive, Program files x86 > and so on, till SDK> lib. Which has the default msi install. Drag an msi across to Client lib, computer says all read have file called msi, do you want to replace it. No I don’t, just want to get all the listed msi,s across , then run each one so as they show up in the Clients Programs and Features window. All the file are called msi. The video states copying them to client PC, does not tell you where to put them or how to copy them across, it state copy each msi file across, not move the folder across., How do I copy the 3 msi file exe, to the Clients, There all have the initial first msi. which came from the Fsx disc. All the new msi, files have the same name ie msi, so computer just not copy them, or it will give it a number ie (2) msi, and (3) msi. This is not correct. Another way? As I have 4 PCs all with a running FSX installed can I use my Fsx disc,s and install the SKD on each PC the place there msi files to the appropriate location in each PC and run the exe, But using or entering the Main Server PCs IP address and port numbers on these Client PCs. Need some help Trubshaw ,
February 23, 20206 yr Commercial Member Hi, 1. an "MSI" file is only an installer, you don't keep it and it doesn't matter one bit where you copy it to. Just save it anywhere on your client computers, for example on the desktop, then you doubleclick it so it installs the simconnect client. Afterwards you delete the MSI. 2. You only need to install one/the same simconnect client on all computers. With FSX boxed that is this one: \Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib\SimConnect.msi Install it on all computers that are supposed to run a SimConnect addon (that is what you need the client for, nothing else). February 23, 20206 yr Author Hello Oliver. I use to speak to an Oliver on Air Nav Pro for ipad Thank you for reply, I have been following the Frooglesim Sim video he really goes mad on telling you to find and install all the msi files. The msi from the disc 1 Acceleration disc 1 is msi 10.0.60905.0 ,which ships with FSX Gold, I have it on all 4 computers, the icon looks like an installer, Click on it , and a dialogue box comes up! click install , a green ribbon installing line runs, then the dialogue box disappears. I have no idea what this has installed. but in Programs and Features the 10.0.60905.0 is showing. As far as I know I have all the components of SKD in the correct locations. The IP address in the xml file is that of my Main/Server PC. it has about 4 Ports showing , one of The is Port 500 which is used in Plan G . I use Plan G as in options it has radar dots to select which connections you want to use, I run FSUIPC and Wide Client on each PC, and can run up Plan G or FS .Commander on all 4 PCs in the network. So it all works OK. I try ticking the sim connect radar box in Plan G , which is showing and using the same Main PCs IP address, and the same Port 500 , but it does not connect . Also I have not seen this DOS black Screen sometimes mentioned. Or tool in the menu bar. I just want to run add ons from a second PC like Active Sky Next So I’m still going round in circles. The FSX Acceleration SimConnect has version number v10.0.61259.0. It is definitely the one from the folder that I wrote above (\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib\SimConnect.msi) just copy this file to each computer, doubleclick it, let it install the client, then delete it. Check the version number in the installed apps. You don't need the SDK on the other computers to run SimConnect. Only the client software, which is what is installed by the MSI file. Then it is just a matter of having the correct SimConnect.cfg on the clients and the correct SimConnect.xml on the server (=where the sim is running that you want to connect to). And be mindful of network security. The ports that you want to use for SimConnect might be blocked by the firewall (On your router, the Windows firewall or any AntiVirus program that you are running). That is by far the most common issue. 20 hours ago, Trubshaw said: Also I have not seen this DOS black Screen sometimes mentioned. Or tool in the menu bar. Not sure what you mean by that. SimConnect does not create any of those. The SimConnect API "server" is an integral part of the simulator. You don't install it on the computer where there is the sim - it is always there, even if you don't use it. What you want to do is to get a remote client to connect to that server component. That is what the MSI files are for, they install a SimConnect client on any computer you want - no prerequisites. And to tell SimConnect who is trying to talk to whom there are the SimConnect.cfg file on the client and the SimConnect.xml file on the server. February 28, 20206 yr Author Hello. Still having no success with sim connect. On my Server the FSX computer, in Programs and Features, I can see 3 msi. xxxxxxx with the name Client msi files. Should they appear in both Server and Client PC or Just the Client. ie The SKD msi, in the Server is not run / installed in the Server, but copied over to the Client PC and run/ installed there so they only show up in the clients Programs and Features window. Is the correct Regards Trubshaw .

Put the one that I told you on a flash drive/USB key and go to all your computers in turn, client and server alike. Attach the key and doubleclick the file, let it install. Done. After that you should have a simconnect client in "Programs and Features" with version 61259. When this is present on all computers, proceed with setting up the SimConnect.cfgs on the clients and the SimConnect.xml on the server. SDK is not required at all. You only need to install it somewhere (=once) to get the SimConnect.msi file out of it. (\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib\SimConnect.msi) Best regards Edited March 1, 20206 yr by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI
