February 22, 20206 yr I had this issue before, but for some reason I could not find where it was saved. Instead of reinstalling from Login / Password, I was going to try and install by browsing to my key, but it ask for a password, that I do not remember getting or creating a pwd, and its not the last four of my credit card either. I tried to create a ticket, I get no web-form errors, all windows filled in, progress icon lower right just spins nonstop forever. My install of Win 10 is a bit different, my "User" folder is on my G: drive, and windows writes everything to my G: drive. This folder exist - C:\RealityXP Problem - Error: Run-time Error 75: Path/File Access Error
February 23, 20206 yr Hi, I'm not sure to understand where you are at right now: What is giving you this error message? Is this the e-commerce installer? The RXP software installer afterward? The Garmin installer? The simulator at runtime? Did you manage to reinstall our product in the end?
February 24, 20206 yr Author Its happening when I try to run the update for rxpGTN-750-XPL, both 650 and 750. Doing the reinstall with the option of my credentials that are saved via your software / updater.
February 24, 20206 yr Hi, Do you mean when you are running the e-commerce installer, the executable with red icon, named rxpGTN-750-XPL.exe ? If so, you are double clicking the icon, it opens the window where you can purchase or REINSTALL the product. You do select REINSTALL and then it offers you to choose whether using the key/password or the F1 account isn't it? If I understand correctly you choose the later and then what is happening once you make this choice exactly? Is there anything going on/displayed on the screen and/or in the window? Can you post a screenshot?
February 24, 20206 yr Author Exactly, and when I choose to Reinstall using my F1 account, up pops a little applet windows saying... Run-time Error 75: Path/File Access Error
February 25, 20206 yr Ok, so like the error says, there is a file/path access rights problem on your system. In other words, the installer is trying to write or read a file in a location for which the user account with which you are running the installer doesn't have enough access rights. Like this:
February 28, 20206 yr Author You're trying to say it has nothing to do with FL updating app / software, and is purely a Ms issue. I only have one account on my system, and it has full admin rights to everything. I've stalled about everything under the some on my PC, and I've never seen this error, until I run F1's updater / Reinstall

Hi, I'm not trying, nor saying it is an MS issue. This error message apparently shows up whenever the program, which is running with the access rights of the currently logged in user (as expected), is getting an "access error" of some sort from the OS. Another reason could be you've enabled Win10 Ransomware Protection which forbids programs from accessing the user account folder and certainly the C:\ root as well. You can find multiple info on the internet explaining the reason for this message, for example: https://www.iris.co.uk/support/knowledgebase/kb/7290/ Let's try this: Disable Windows Security > Ransomware Protection > Controlled folder access Verify the existing C:\RealityXP folder grants your user account Read, Write, List and Exec access rights. (right click > properties > security > advanced) Try reinstalling again Also, can you confirm you've not disabled UAC or any other 'protection' layer in Win10? NB: You never have full admin rights under Win7,8,10. You're just a little less annoyed by UAC, and you are still bound to file/registry/programs ACLs (Access Control List). The closest to 'root' account in Windows requires opening a cmd prompt 'as-admin' and then: net user administrator /active:yes ) Edited February 29, 20206 yr by RXP
March 7, 20206 yr Author I only have one account on my system, and it has full admin rights to everything. I've stalled about everything under the some on my PC, and I've never seen this error, until I run F1's updater / Reinstall. I dropped UAC to its lowest level. I don't use / have windows security running, I use 3rd party programs that I have disabled. Maybe, just maybe, if C:root installs are the problem, you should change your install to C:\Program Files like everyone else uses. I can't get it to update, if I say install later then is just pops up right away, if I go with skip, it just pops up right away. Your software it behaving more like ransomware itself, it does not pay attention to anything you tell it do do with its own options. About to ask for a refund, and just not use it at all.
March 7, 20206 yr Hi, If you disable UAC, your operating system is not offering the same view of its files/folders/registry/ACL compared to when UAC is active. This is how the Windows operating system is working, and this is sometimes a source a problems when running programs designed to follow microsoft guidelines. If you're creating an admin account, it isn't a full access rights account either. The only closest-to-root will full access right is the builtin administrator account which I've given command to enable above. Any standard/admin account is bound to ACL and other Windows layers of protection. Now, I've offered a procedure to try. It is not hard to do: just disable the Win10 protection layer to C:\ and "My Documents" which was added in Win10 only (didn't exist in Win7/8), and see if this works. We'd like the e-commerce system working differently but this part is out of our control. The RXP software is well behaving in your operating system during installation and runtime following Microsoft guidelines and not tampering with any security measure, but the e-commerce wrapper is just 'forcing' to create a "C:\RealityXP" folder to save the license and the installer. NB: once installed, you can move the files the e-commerce installer has left there to some other location (the .lic requires at least the 'My Documents\RealityXP' if I'm not mistaken). We're also further evaluating a new e-commerce solution which will no longer require the C:\RealityXP folder but it is not avail right now. In the meantime, can you please at least just try the suggestion and see how it goes? Edited March 7, 20206 yr by RXP
March 7, 20206 yr Author Been there done that, I may have fixed the issue by going at it another way, now only to be told that I can't proceed because there have been too many attempts to activate it.
March 10, 20206 yr Hi, You might want to share what the 'other way' is so that other customers searching for similar questions in the forum could thank you for the tips! As for activation, it is a simple online process but I'd suggest you just give a try to the just released version instead: Go to Plugins > Reality XP GTN > Check updates...
