MSI Gaming X GTX1070 to Aorus GTX1080Ti Extreme

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My friend is selling his Aorus GTX1080Ti Extreme edition and asked if i was interested. Now after reading that a 1080Ti is the grail for P3D,i wondered if this "upgrade" would be beneficial for me.

I currently have an i7-9700K,16Gb ram and the MSI Gaming X 1070.I'm getting 20-25fps with most scenarios in P3D running at 1920*1080.

Will i see a substantial improvement with that 1080Ti?I'm planning on going to a 2K monitor in the future.

Also, what is a reasonable price for this card nowadays? He's asking 600€ but that seems a bit high to me.

Brgds,

Steven

Hi Steven, according to this web site https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1080-Ti-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1070/3918vs3609  you might expect a performance increase of about 63%. As regards the price, when compared to prices for used 1080 TI's on Ebay (I'm currently looking for one myself) it might look a little on the high side, but if you know the history of the card (hasn't been used for mining for example) then I'd say it was probably worth it.

Did you buy your friends card, if not wait a bit longer and you'll have a better card, and still have about 100 euro left over.

I went from a 1070 to 1080Ti, was like night and day.  I wouldn't be paying any more than £400.  The hardware forum I go on, the used price on there is usually between £350-£400 depending on age, warranty, and model.
