Flying rubber doggy doo OVER Hong Kong?

Featured Replies

I don't recall such products being on the manifest, but then again I did take off from Beijing, bound for Perth, and the Aussies do have a cracking sense of humour...

Approaching HK at about FL390 IIRC.

Ahh.. I'm going to miss the old Checkerboard approach...

Far less dramatic approaches to be had here..

Turning away on a more southerly course.

I concur,I've watch it several times myself - the dynamics of tri-holer reverse thrust action on a wet runway!

As a massive threeholer I can never get enough. Keep 'em coming Mark! 😎

BTW just seen this awesome clip of a Western Global MD-11 coming to a halt...... I cannot stop watching it actually.

Mark, on the subject of Aviation:

Regarding, your missing (old) Kai Tak (Checkerboard), let me get this straight...🙂...:

1. Your Western Global Cargo MD-11 is surely well-laden, if you're doing your job right.
2. And, you're high at FL390!

Nah...I don't think Kai Tak ATC, even if they were in business, will ever entertain your thoughts of an approach there...!

Now, more seriously, you've got some very nice shots here...of this not-so-well-known Cargo livery. I liked, most, the last (banking) shot, along with its atmospheric ambience!

Thanks P-7878

To clarify: I was meaning that I miss the Checkerboard as Kai Tak is no more - my flight is taking place in the present. IIRC she's carrying something like 60 tonnes of freight, so well-laden indeed.

I never had the nerve to fly the checkerboard and between those buildings too.  That was the time of iron airplanes and pilots too.  Sorta.  Have a good one Mark
