MCE + P3Dv4 + Jeehell

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a problem with my home cockpit.

I have changed from FSX tp P3Dv4.

In FSX the Jeehell Airbus works, but MCE will not recognize the aircraft which is the a320FMGS Project AirbusA320-214, supplied with Jeehell software from the MyCockpit site.

I see the message "Couldt not retrieve information for this specific aircraft! The application is going to to terminate

I'm using windows 7 64 plus P3D v4 and the last version of MCE and Jeehell b49.2

Is there any solution for this problem?

We can get MCE to load with it for sure. Just don't know to which extent it supports it

Any download link for the aircraft?

Hi all, is there anything new on this? I´ve just purchased MCE and have the same issue like Dieter. I exspected that MCE would ran into issues, but my hope was, that the basic functions, i. ex. the Co-Pilot makes all the communication with ATC, would work. That the whole application will be terminated because of the type of plane i wasn´t aware of.

So we would really appreciate it if you get the MCE working with Jeehell´s aircrafts. The A32x aircrafts of this app are based on the Project Airbus A320 with slightly modified parameters. I guess, if you put some work on it, Jean-Luc who has developed the Jeehell FMGS, will give you any advice you probably need.

MCE should be able to load with ANY aircraft.

Tested Jeehell version B50.1 and MCE was able to identify aircraft.

Is it P3D V4 you are under?

In that case, could you post the name of the folder you installed Jeehell software to, default being  C:\A320FMGS\

Also, post "add-ons.cfg" file content. File found under C:\Program Data\Lockheed martin\Prepar3D v4\ folder.

Hi Gerald, thank u much for your immediate reply. Yes, i use P3D V4.3 and the Jeehell Soft is installed under C:\A320FMGS

My add-ons.cfg is not in that folder, but it´ s in this dir C:\Users\MeUser\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4, and this is how it looks like

Gerald, in addition to my yesterday reply, I would inform you, that I have installed also an original Project Airbus A320 with the original air, model and config files. This aircraft is even not mentioned in the add-on.cfg, but this one works with MCE without any issues. Its even recognized as "Airbus A320" in MCE-app.

So I´am really curious about, what makes the difference for MCE. Is it in the xx.air file, and if that's the case, on which setting in the air.file it depends.

I have 5 so called "Jeehell" aircrafts in use. A318, A319, A320, A321 and A330. The A330 is one from Oliver Papst, modified to work with the Jeehell FMGS. This A330 is recognized by MCE as "Airbus A333"and works. Mysteriously the other´s 318, 319, 320, and 321 don´t.

Gerald, another thought about the Issue:

could it be the case, that MCE expects the Aircraft in the ...P3D\Simobjects\Aircraft - folder? Because the MCE-working Aircrafts (Original PA A320 and the A330) are in that folder and the Jeehell Aircrafts are in the folder C:\A320FMGS\Aircraft.

Affirmative, that's the reason.

A simple fix, assuming you have no hard drive space issue on your P3D installation, and won't be swapping aircraft liveries on Jeehell aircraft,  is to copy the folder <A320-214> and <A320-233> found in C:\A320FMGS\Aircraft\ folder and paste them to \Prepart3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\ folder

Another way, is to copy "add-ons.cfg" to C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\ folder and then add the following entry

[Package.9]
Path=C:\A320FMGS\Aircraft
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE

Gerald, i tried the second option and this made it work. But i didn´t need to copy the add-ons.cfg into the main application folder of P3D. I left the file under the roaming app data and just added the Path to what you said and that works now.

I´am very happy the at least i´am able to terrorize my new crew with all the necessary commands...including bringing my coffee and my carpet slippers…..hehehe.

Many thanks for your outstanding support so far. I´ll come back if i run into other issues.

Cheers Your happy customer Bernd

You're welcome.

Could you provide some feedback as to what FO is able to assist with at this stage?

Can he dial the radios?

Gerald, I will do some tests over the weekend and let you know.

Gerald, i´ve done some flight´s and it works as i exspected. The FO read´s my customized checklist for the A320. I´ve builded my own CL to match with all the functions i need in conjunction with the Jeehell FMGS. So this is what i could test:

1. The FO reads down all the different checklists i builded myself

2. the FO tunes the COM-Radios when i use the P3D-ATC and i´am telling him to do so

3. the FO talks to the ATC when i am telling him to do, but it would be nice, if he could even automaticly aknowledge the given commands by atc, because its unreal that i have to tell him every little step to make.

4. the FO can also do a lot of aircraft configuration changes like set lights on off, retract gear and flaps, start engines etc. Even with the Jeehell FMGS running. But of course in the Jeehell FMGS the status are not updated, because the FO just gives the "ghosted" keystrokes direct to P3D. No real issue for me, because i´am the Pilot flying and set all in Jeehell.

5. Cabin crew follows my commands of open and close exits.

6. GSX orders the different services when i call for it, but there is some better separation needed. i. ex. when i call ramp to call the refueling than the FO talks back and tries some strange settings on the aircraft because he "thought" it´s him i talked to.

One more advice to new users of MCE. The in-build speech-training is not enough. I bought a very cheap headset which is usually for phones and after i ran thru all the setupsteps of mce including the speechtraining provided, the FO wasn´t reacting to my commands. At that point i thought it´s because of the cheap microphone of the headset, so i bought a little better one. But, same issue remain that MCE doesn´t heard my commands. Then i went into the Windows speech recognition itself and went thru that much longer speech training. After that, MCE hears all my talking, even when i talk in different tones or with some coffee in my mouth. So, it´s highly recommended to do the Windows speech-training.

These are my fist impressions and i hope this helps you in evolving the allready great MCE any further.

Thanks for the extensive report. Really appreciate.

What about FCU (Autopilot). Are you using hardware FCU or relying on Jeehell FCU 2D panel for dialing and mode selection?

And if that's the case, is FCU panel on same computer where MCE is running?

Gerald, you´re welcome.

At present I use the Jeehell software panel. The whole Jeehell suite is running on a separate PC as dedicated FMGS-Server, separately from the P3D-Server. My understanding is, that the Jeehell FMGS bypasses the controls of P3D and inject offset changes directly via Simconnect from their FBW-Simulation into P3D. As long as the Jeehell-FMGS is not running, but using the Jeehell A320 in P3D as "just another add-on aircraft", the MCE-CoPilot can handle the Autopilot and all other stuff directly within p3D.

I guess that technically it should be possible for MCE to interact even with the Jeehell-FMGS, but therefore MCE would need to send the necessary commands to the FMGS-Server or FBW and not directly into p3d. By now, I would not expect, that, if the Co-Pilot changes i. ex. the course on the FCU in P3D, that the Jeehell FCU shows the updated heading. But, if the Co-Pilot would send an command into the Jeehell-FMGS to change heading, (just like what I do with my mouse scrolling while focusing on the heading knob on the FCU-GUI), then it would work like it should and Jean-Luc would recommend.

This is just  for what Jeehell is designed for. Jeehell-FMGS himself is "THE Add-On-Airbus A32x" as a total system and P3D is just "only" the visual system which shows the world changing outside the cockpit and provides the physics behind. And the Project-Airbus A32x provides the aerodynamically interface between both. In my understanding complex add-ons like PMDG or Airbus Professional from Aerosoft are doing the same just designed for doing this within P3D and on a single PC.

Of, course I would never try to stop you for adding to the MCE an interfacing into Jeehell-FMGS, but I would even understand if that´s not the way you want to go. The reason why i ´ve put attention on MCE is the ability to have someone who provides the checklists an who handle the whole ATC-stuff while i am concentrating on flying the aircraft. Well, it seems that the ATC-portion i will go for will be the PF3 from OnCourse. The ATC in P3D is not bad, but there is missing a lot that PF3 seems can provide. And i hope that the interaction between MCE-CoPi and PF3 will be smoother, because of the basic ability of PF3 to provide different grades of Co-Pilot assisting which can be done in conjunction with MCE as an voice control-interface.  This is just one major missing point in the P3D-ATC.
