Industry leading AI traffic package about to hit X-Plane!

anyone try it out yet?

Funny guy half of the forum is probably getting setup right now!

I have been testing KLAX with custom ground routes and airport operation file from the .org, using 80% real life AFRE traffic and rl cargo traffic - easily getting 20 live planes in the area (rendering of AC set to 20 miles) - plus 50% occupied gates - so more or less a slightly cooled down KLAX experience (incl. augmented GA traffic) - the planes look absolutely stunning, and it runs fine without major performance cost (never broke my 30fps lock but it's a well tuned system). There are def. some rough edges left in the overall experience (UI is confusing for beginners with no WT2 experience), but it surely transforms X-Plane to have "plausible" traffic.

So now 3 things left - test how good the automated ground route generator works for setting up new airports quickly - and how seamless the whole experience is in day to day simming, especially with the Zibo 737 (approaches in high traffic situations). And lastly, if the promosing performance holds up in these situations.

I am looking for a no-fuss experience where I load a flight and at best do one button push to get good traffic - as of now it seems WT3 can certainly deliver that when you understand its gears and have fun configurating your scenery and simulator.

No noticeable frame hits on my system. I have some double parked planes and some X-Plane AI as well and I deselected them in my settings so will have to read further on how to get rid of them.

@Colonel X  very confusing UI -need a dummies tutorial. :biggrin:

It seems to work really well at the few airports that I visited. Basically, WT3 is a clone of Alpha India Group's offerings of AI traffic for P3d. It uses the same models and flight plans, with permission of course. I could see how someone who is not totally versed in how AI traffic works could find the initial setup instructions a bit daunting, but in my opinion for a first release it is as good if not better than  any AI package for P3d/FSX. The models and liveries are all up to date. The schedules are as I stated, freeware, so some are contemporaneous and some are several years old, but those slightly older ones shouldn't detract at all from the overall realism.

Having been a convert to WT2 from long ago (and constantly struggling with its limitations), the version 3 fills one major void in XP11 that has been sadly lacking, a viable and immersive AI package that take the burden off of the user to dot the Is and cross the Ts. If the integration with P2ATC can eventually be made to work (ala the VOXATC approach, I am assuming), the XP11 ATC will also be full-featured.

One minor drawback that I noticed is that the resolution of the textures for a number of the airlines and models seems to be a bit low. At 4K, for me everything is razor sharp in XP11, unless one gets close to the AI aircraft and then one sees the dreaded "jaggies". This is not a function of the graphics settings, but rather the textures themselves. Its not a big issue to me, as how often does the user aircraft come that close to the AI aircraft? Note that I did delete all the WT2 aircraft before installing the new WT3 aircraft packages.

EDIT: I noticed that these models are mostly the older AI Aardvark  (David Rawlins) versions and hence that's why the texture sheets are 1024. I noticed that someone on .org said that he upconverted them to 2048, but unless the FAIB texture sheets are close enough (the models are very similar), I doubt that just increasing the AIA texture sheet size will do anything, since upconverting just makes each pixel larger. You can't create more detail where there isn't any, unless you use some kind of interpolation utility.

Textures are 1024 instead of 2048 as per FSX/PR3D. If anyone can convince FAIB to give permission to port their models for a freeware addon package for WT3 we'll have high resolution as well as good special liveries, in the meanwhile this is the best we can achieve.

Hi All,

I am trying the demo which I believe to be good for 15 flights. I have configured it correctly, can create a flight plan and taxi route but I see no aircraft whatsoever. If I test a taxi route I can see the AI traffic.

Anyone know what I may be doing wrong? I really want to get this working before shelling out my hard earned cash,

Richard

Can u see the aircraft labels? Make sure u have the correct folder structure for your AI models

FAIB is a one man operation and he has stated several times that his models are not to be modified. It is more likely that someone would do new 2048 paints for the converted AIA models.

I'm not dwelling on this as the WT3 models look okay in XP11. And they are at the same level of detail as the models in payware AI packages for P3d4, such as Ultimate Traffic Live and My Traffic 6.

Yes, I noticed that with reflections and metalness of native XP11 some are really as good as PR3D, but having painted now almost 300 new liveries for old AIA, let me say it's so boring and looking at the already done hundreds of skins for Faib I can only think what a waste of time.

They definitly are. At dusk when PBR is in full effect, reflecting the ambient light, I'd go as far as to say they easily look better.

Most of the UT Live models are AIA versions. The one's that aren't are licensed from MyT 6. Now, were you being serious?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding.  Here his how I see it.

MT6- Models horrible very dated and ugly.

UT live- Pretty good overall.  No major complaints.

WT3- The bluebell models I used instructed in the setup guide I find very good.  Much better then anything I've seen in P3d/fsx.  Also the way xp11 handles ai seems much more natural.

I thought I had installed everything correctly. I'm just about to get on a flight so will have to check when I get home

And take a look at what Version you got (In the Log File inside the Plug-in). Obviously several sold WorldTraffic 3.0 Versions from the org were 3.01, while the current version is 3.04 .
