In fairness to Ben, Myron and the guys at Airline2Sim who are doing an excellent job

I'm sorry If my feedback looks negative, please forgive me for my russian mentality (we always criticize first). Also feedback should be left after watching the whole course, but I could not resist and wait for a month.

I'm rather experienced simmer, so my comments is just a demand for new knowledges and small details explanation (like, how often a pilot of a big bird may be asked for LOC or Visual approach)

I clearly understand that it is impossible to give equivalent value to every user and we all have different expectations. So, regarding ETOPS flights I just leave there my suggestions which I I'd like to know, If it not be in the video course I will be glad to read it here, on forum: crossing ETOPS segments: speed (constant?), altitude (constant? or changing procedure), how alternate airports are chosen (they are the same for any type of emergency or can differ?).

Looking forward to the next clip !

No problem! We're all friends here.

ETOPS - it'll all be covered in a bunch of detail in the Cadet+ Program. In fact the plan is actually to include some kind of emergency that requires a Mid Atlantic diversion so we explore the processes that unfold in this event. Still WIP, but it's what I want to do.

Hey, Ben. Are there any plans for Trans-pacific or Polar Ops flights? I know the concepts are pretty much the same as Trans-Atlantic crossings, although Polar ops is another ball-game altogether.

Regards,

Todd Harrell

That sounds really amazing! Can't wait for that one, with Myron as the teacher (and Ben as the 'test-subject' ). Hope you're up for the job.

Of course, you already did an absolute amazing job in the present course - so why shouldn't you?

Is the plan still end of February for the Cadet+ ? (I know you haven't made any dates/promises - but you hinted at it, in another post, if I recall correctly...)

Best regards,

We could look at it yes. As you say it's much the same trans Pacific but Polar ops are a different story. My only fear is that it's a lot of talking and not a lot of doing. It requires a bit of thought as to how can bring it alive.

It'll boil down to Myron's availability and how well the sim behaves itself when we record it :) We'll do our best to get it out ASAP.

Yes of course.

Any idea yet of, how big the course will get/be? It already sounds like quite en undertaking, giving all the topics you want to cover...

Hard to say at this stage. The 777 Cadet wasn't planned to run to 24 videos , but we talk a lot!

A little oopsie at the beginning of 15.  The map showing the location of Salt Lake City is off by a few hundred miles.  You show it at the edge of the Black Hills in South Dakota, east of the Rockies.  It's actually on the west side of the Rockies near the large white splotch with the large lake.

I am really enjoying this series.  I've learned so much from it, even though I've had the PMDG 777 since it was released.  Captain Ashcroft is like a great CFI who not only shares his knowledge, but his love of aviation as well.

Thanks Larry - if you could post up a screenie showing me where it should be, we'll move it. We did spend a long time staring at maps to try to figure out where on a black and white satellite image it might be and someone said 'hey there's a splotch that's gotta be Salt Lake City'

Ben,

Happy to.

I just finished 15.  What a great lesson!  I've flown that approach many times (mostly in the NGX) and I've always wondered how it's really done.  I think that Captain Ashcraft's instructions should translate easily to the 737.

Thanks Larry. It's not a big job to change it (10 seconds) but it's a big job to render a new video and upload it (1-2 days) so this will go on the list for next week when things settle down. Glad you enjoyed it - I hope you're now relaxing with a Chianti and a big bowl of pasta

Actually, I'm going to jump straight into 16.  I read the entire NTSB report and I can't wait to hear Captain Ashcraft's take on it.  It's the lesson I've been looking forward to the most.

Interesting... A small question, Ben... (Apologies if you already have answered this!)

I can see from the titles, that you'll be jumping from the US to Asia then to Europe and then to the Middle-East. Are the trans-Pacific and/or Atlantic crossing covered in these videos, or would this be available in the Cadet+ course later? I seem to remember, you mentioned that ETOPS-operations, would be covered in Cadet+...

Best regards,

We cross the oceans in the next few videos to Hong Kong, Munich and Doha but again all those videos concentrate on the busy parts - noise abatement, SIDS, STARs, flying in metres into China, avoiding weather and how to use the wx radar etc. The crossing isn't covered as that's for the Cadet+. Hope that clears it up.
