October 22, 201411 yr Hi! I'm considering an upgrade from a GTX760 to a GTX780Ti or even a GTX980. Will it be worth the money ( considerable improvement )? The card will be used in a i7 4770k @ 4,2GHz / 8GB RAM / WIN7 64bit / PMDG / ASN environment. Best regards Tom
October 22, 201411 yr If your Sim is Fsx, no. if xplane or p3d, yes because fsx is more cpu dependet and not gpu
October 22, 201411 yr there have been a few reports of upgrades in the fsx forums for a zero result. keep Your card and use the money for scenery instead ZORAN
October 22, 201411 yr OR if you are using FSX and have some future plans to switch to P3D or XP B) Btw. GTX 980 is cooler, quieter, with better performance, draws less electricity than 780Ti.

October 23, 201411 yr Hi guys, I am currently running a i7 3930k at 4.2 ghz with a gtx 580 and FSX running pretty good on frames and soomthness. Would a gtx 980 be a worthwhile upgrade? Since my gtx 580 card is only 1.5gb card. Thanks.

Since my gtx 580 card is only 1.5gb card. Thanks. What resolution. I mean, there is a large difference between the two cards.... The 980 tops the 780ti..... There will be improved performance. Do you use anything other than FSX? David Graham Google, Network+, Cisco CSE, Cisco Unity Support Specialist, A+, CCNA
October 23, 201411 yr The resolution is 1920 x 1080 i think and Only used for fsx really. I play using the hdmi from the gtx 580 connected to a 55' 4k tv.
October 23, 201411 yr Hold on what? You downsample a 4k tv to 1080p? David Graham Google, Network+, Cisco CSE, Cisco Unity Support Specialist, A+, CCNA
October 24, 201411 yr Hold on what? You downsample a 4k tv to 1080p? If ran at higher resolution. Wouldn't that be too much for the gtx580? The tv is not for flight simulation only.
October 24, 201411 yr If ran at higher resolution. Wouldn't that be too much for the gtx580? The tv is not for flight simulation only. Surely you must try Would be the first thing I did.
October 24, 201411 yr Silly me, don't know Why i never tried. Wow what a difference. Running at 2560 x 1440 seems best. But frames took a hit of about 10. Usually 30 everywhere. Now around 20. So would a newer card help now? Thanks for enlightening me guys.
October 26, 201411 yr High levels of AA seem to punish GPU's, even In FSX, and especially in DX10, REX clouds, modern addon VC's etc. I wouldn't ignore the importance of the GPU. BR Anders

I scoured the web the last few days looking for one from an online vendor (reputable) and nobody has them. I then googled 'Geforce GTX 980 shortage' and shure enough there is a supply shortage issue. If you find any let me know (USA or Canada here) Chris Strobel KSNA
