March 1, 201412 yr For me, what it has done is fix a broken DX9 FSX. I can now enjoy: Better graphics! Smother performance! Stability! I’d like to add that now I can run FSX with unlimited frames with no lags, stutters, or blurry scenery. That‘s more value than I expected. I have more to say about what it has fixed, but I’ll let you share what it has done for you. Here’s to the fixer! Jose I'm now in sim heaven thanks to MSFS 2024 and hundreds of add-ons!
March 1, 201412 yr How is your image quality in terms of sharpness with DX10? Can you post a few screens? -- tazz
March 1, 201412 yr Author How is your image quality in terms of sharpness with DX10? Can you post a few screens? Do you mean sharpness with regards to gauges? Just as an example of what I'm seeing now. I did a quick flight from Troutdale to FZ KPDX looking toward the city of Portland, dusk, locked at 30, and smooth. This was not possible using DX9. I'm now in sim heaven thanks to MSFS 2024 and hundreds of add-ons!
March 1, 201412 yr Mine have gotten sharper, and I am in balanced mode. It's especially noticeable when reading text on the cdu.
March 1, 201412 yr Well...um ... can you change these settings in DX9? B) i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
March 1, 201412 yr I purchased it mainly to get rid of the black squares over lights in FTX NCA scenery which it did.

I'm still wondering how much performance I might gain in DX10 w/ Steve's Fixer, an ATI 7850 2gig vid card and a bottlenecked CPU (@ 3.06)? Chris Camp
March 1, 201412 yr I tried installing Steve's DX10 patches in Shader Release 3.2.2 as a test before buying his product but it's really messed up my anti-aliasing and performance. I tried the recommended settings with Nvidia Inspector and I just can't seem to find the same sharp overall image quality that I have now with DX9. I must be doing something wrong. -- tazz
March 1, 201412 yr Steve's DX10 Fixer is a god send for all who use FSX. For me it has fixed so many things, and turned FSX into a cold glass of lemonade on a hot summers day. Along with my new system FSX is better than it ever was thanks to all these great developers!
March 1, 201412 yr For me, what it has done is fix a broken DX9 FSX. I can now enjoy: No it has partially fixed a broken DX10 preview, DX9 was never broken to start with. What exactly was broken in DX9 ? And as much as I admire what has been achieved with the fixer which I bought to find out what the fuss was about, I still cannot get the same image quality regarding AA as I did under DX9 and I still have tearing with my TrackIR. I get consistent 30fps with the F1 mustang anywhere, in any weather conditions that ASN can deliver under DX9 but under dx10 IQ is not even close. Trust me I really want to get DX10 working, not least so that I feel that I did not waste £20

Trust me I really want to get DX10 working, not least so that I feel that I did not waste £20 Using DX9 since it was released, all I can think of is lock ups on start up, lock ups on loading scenery, poor framerates with high quality settings, blog AI landing lights, CTDs, no cockpit shadows, waves without the caps, couldn't run bloom, flashes with BP=0 if one doesn't set water at Hight 2x, and let me not forget OOM errors. I don't want to even count the amount of times I had to reset my computer in order to find solutions that not even experienced devs could figure out how to fix. Someone came along, Steve, and created a dx10 fixer. Someone else, Paul, created a guide that virtually guarantees, if followed. that image quality is better than dx9. Since I no longer have the issues I had with dx9, I can conclude that if I go back to using dx9, I will have the same problems I had before the switch, and I'm not insane. I'm now in sim heaven thanks to MSFS 2024 and hundreds of add-ons!
March 1, 201412 yr That's great, Jose....but not everyone is seeing better performance or visual quality when using DX10 mode. March 1, 201412 yr Author That's great, Jose....but not everyone is seeing better performance or visual quality when using DX10 mode. When the fixer was 1st released, I did not see better image quality or performance. I tried again after Steve updated the fixer and Paul provided the settings with 4SGSS. Honestly, I thought I needed a new video card. But, it works. The only problem was Vsync, and that has been fixed too. I'm now in sim heaven thanks to MSFS 2024 and hundreds of add-ons!
March 1, 201412 yr Using DX9 since it was released, all I can think of is lock ups on start up, lock ups on loading scenery, poor framerates with high quality settings, Jose, I have never experienced any of those things, the sim is rock solid for me, I have never had an OOM from the day FSX was released. But I have the DX10 fixer now. My AA is nowhere near what I had before and the screen tearing is driving me mad. I am at a loss why so many seem to have so many issues in FSX. I have followed all the guides and still no Vsync here, no AA equivalent to my 8XS, 2x Sparse Grid Supersampling in DX9. I only have a couple of modifications to my FSX.cfg and performance + image quality + stability is superb in DX9. HIGHMEMFIX=1 [bufferPools] UsePools=1 PoolSize=8388608 RejectThreshold=98304 [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=14 Why am I not having such an horrific time in FSX/DX9 that everyone else seems to be having, I feel a bit left out at this point if I'm honest :-)
March 1, 201412 yr Mad Dog - download the latest How-To. I've added another section on Vsync, plus an extra paragraph - second to last - that will get you greater help.
