Skeleton (no skin) 777 potential Fix, Question on reinstallation of Acceleration

Featured Replies

Totally agree, get rid of this.cfg!

My recommendation:

Start over and put in only what PMDG recommends (wideviewaspect and highmemfix)

test

If that does not result in good performance try elements of Costas guide.

I would try Costas tweak one by one and test.....not all at the same time.

(I am still not convinced by his Affinity mask and bufferpools tweak but I need to do more testing also before I can see they are good or no good on my system)

I already recommended Gskill memory, see above.

For every problem there is a solution.

But you need be more specific with describing your issues.

Flashes?

Sleleton?

Stutters?

Blurry textures?

Low frame rate?

etc

For now just put in Highmemfix and Wideviewaspect according PMDG intro guide!

Also, you need to set all the FSX sliders back to where you want/need them because they default back to default when you erase the FSX.cfg.

Ps, what CPU and GPU do you have?

As for cfg file new build was not better than bojotes version fyi - give it another shot, I have it now VC and Spot view with about a 2 second skeleton and thats with 1024 outside textures bare bones fsx no ai or traffic no clouds still thinking this is a ram issue, this ram looks like it might do the trick as this is my new board also

I have 3730k OC 4.3 at the moment 1866 vengeance ram 16 gig, never buy this again not happy with it at all

That's an interesting article as I had never heard of G-Sync. Will be interesting to see how well it works once people start trying it with FSX.

That's really weird that your still getting 2 seconds of skeleton with 1024's and no AI and clouds, especially with the rig you have.

Currently I am running an unclocked 2700K, 8GB of 2133mhz Mushkin RAM, and a GTX670FTW 2GB and even with clouds and UT2 AI set to 70% and 100% WOAI for cargo packages, I am still not getting any skeletons when switching to outside views with 1024's. However, when switching back to the VC from the outside. You have a faster CPU and GPU than I do, but your RAM is a little slower, but I wouldn't think it would make that much difference.

It will be interesting to see if you are able to solve this.

Hi Sean just ordered corsair platinum 16gb of 2133 ram I think that should fix the problem, also have a solid 4.5 oc now just need my new speedy ram to go with it, thanks buddy for the help

Richard I've been having the Vas problems too but today I tried something new, they say

to put your page file on a different disk not your fsx or your c:\ drive on a spare disk

so I did this since the 777 came out and nothing but problems with high end scenery airports etc..... but today I REVERTED back to the page file on the c:\ drive and so far my tests are far better than before...

Check and see where your page file is and let me know if it makes a difference.

Slightly slow RAM shouldn't be causing that - certainly not on the order of 4-5 seconds.  If it's thrashing swap, that would be a thing, but you'd probably notice that and you shouldn't be doing it anyways.  It's possible something else on your PC is either thrashing disk or causing you some grief.  You haven't installed any weird daemons, have you?  It's also possible that something like Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120% or whatever could be creating issues, although that's probably unlikely.

You didn't download any SUPER ELITE PERFORMANCE BOOSTER A++++ things, did you?

Or if your HDD is filled to the max plus fragmentated, maybe that slows VC and hull texture loading down too.

But if I remember correctly this is a virgin PC....so that cant be it either.

I have said all along that it might be due to slow RAM and I I am going to stick with that theory for now.

The MB makes no difference (as long as it is a modern one that supports his Titan) but the new install seemed to have helped him to get from 4-5 sec down to 2 sec.

So thats a good start.

Oh.... I would turn off any anti virus software for now while testing FSX.

Rob Robson

Hi Guys this is a new windows install and just fsx on a 512 ocz vertex4 SSD drive nothing on it but ccleaner and fsx bare bones to resolve this - will not load another thing until i do or find a new hobby as I believe there is no magic bullet getting this old arse software working correctly.

My money is on the ram I hope that will solve it as with this virgin build i loaded up 777 last night and the computer just shut off for no reason I think that ram once being taxed just goes to !@@##@ anyway I should have my new ram tomorrow and let you know how it goes - its the only thing I have not replaced

let me run this by you can an older computer case cause a problem wiring ? not sure, also all my temps are really low on cpu and GPU which is nice

Rich Sennett

What do you mean with "a problem wiring"?

Are you asking if your case will have enough room for all the wires?

About that computer shut off.

What PSU (power supply unit) do you have?

If that is real old like your case, then maybe it is not generating enough power for that Titan!

Rob Robson

Rob just look at my pc near my picture have a brand new 1250 corsair gold power supply what i was referring to was the case is about 4 years old thinking maybe something could get old in the wiring maybe was just a thought

Rich Sennett

Your "my PC" lists starts at "processor" and ends with "other" when I look at it from my iPad.

Maybe my ipad is not showing everything in that list (I doubt it though) but I see no info on you PSU in that list.

But that does not matter now that you said you have Corsair.

If 1250 means 1250W then that is more than fine.

It was just an idea.

Old wiring is a possibility if contacts are not clean or when connectors dont fit (click) in to place anymore as they should.

But the wires themselves can not go bad. copper stays copper....ok some smart guy is going to say "well if it oxidizes......." :-)

Ok if the copper has turned green (=not clean) then that would not be good for making contact.

An other idea is that since you reinstalled Windows, maybe you left power saving or sleep. mode activated.

I run Windows at max power plan when using FSX to prevent any power saving to interfere with my FSX experience.

Rob Robson

Hmm you are correct Rob its not listed, first thing I do when I install OS is shut all of the power saving crap off lol and no aero so thanks for the help, as for pc case probably not an issue but with all this new hardware I guess its time for a HAF full tower anyway guess I will no tomorrow night when I get home ram should be here and let you know how I made out.

Rich Sennett

Well got new ram in without a hitch so far running it at speed in bios 2133mhz - 16 gig Platinum Dominators this ram is like nothing I have ever used before amazing performance and looks sick

Anyway here is what I encountered in fsx much snappier view changes lowered fps to 25 seems to work the best with this high res monitor - exterior quick skeleton here and there vc is almost instant loading this is dx9 until I tackle dx10 didn't have much luck with 777 in dx10 but maybe this time it will be better, still tentative as I switch views as this new ram on an OC of 4.5 need to give it a chance

So looks like I have something to work with now have to tweak and all that but again anyone in the market for ram look no further Platinums are awesome no way would I buy anything else, make sure your cpu can send the instructions to your ram at this speed as a sandy bridge will not run this ram speed as stated by Gigabyte support.

So overall ram was part of the problem and tweaking on my end should end this mess but knowing what I have for horsepower not sure how anyone with less of a pc is running the 777 smoothly
