June 6, 201313 yr Yeah I thought it was inappropriate too for GEX to post in this forum - but didn't say anything. It seems wrong. But wasn't surprised as I had read about that bizarre story on GEX and the flight sim Estonian forums where apparently they impersonated scared customers trying to scare them into not installing into P3D. Posting in on another developer's thread seems pretty mild in comparison. http://www.flightsim.ee/news/2013/on-flight1s-new-policy-and-on-the-most-bizzare-customer-weve-ever-had Anyways, I don't have GEX or intend to buy FTX Global, UTX etc because I simply don't have the time to fly gobally. I fly almost GA excusively now and for that detailed regional scenries - Pacific simulations, Orbx FTX regions etc seem to be the best fit. I guess the heavies will like prettier textures for sure.
June 6, 201313 yr Yea good post you found there I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
June 6, 201313 yr Alain, This is factually incorrect. I have used UTX for many years now and of course UTX can affect 3rd party sceneries. Flight1 is the seller of UTX and not the producer. This is what the producer of Ultimate Terrain has to say about compatibility: http://www.scenerysolutions.com/UT/Patch/UTSceneryReviews.pdf Switching in ORBx products is a technical aspect, and if someone do not like this then don't buy it. We have a choice. Why continue to push this 'monopoly' agenda? Fair enough, I was not aware of that. I've never had any compatibility problems with their products but I see that I could have. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
June 6, 201313 yr Commercial Member I would never post screenshots of Orbx textures in a topic about who is going to buy GEX, but Anthony Vos (GEX texture developer) has deemed it necessary to show his Norway textures. One can only assume that's a defensive stance by the GEX team and I would suggest that they are the ones who are concerned about a new entrant into the market they have dominated for so long. We love competition, and that's how the free market works, but thread hijacking is a step too low coming from a fellow developer, Anthony. My deepest Apologies John, it was not my intent to break any rules and my name tag is defined as 'Commercial Member". My only motive here was to clear up the misinformation, be it intentional or not, that has been posted in this thread regarding GEX, and answer a users question who asked about Europe landclass, nothing else. I will refrain from posting in this thread any more. Again I'm very sorry and I do very much support the idea of working together also...
June 6, 201313 yr Commercial Member A gracious reply Anthony, thank you. As for potential collaboration, that may represent a slight problem for Steve Halpern Cheers, John Venema
June 6, 201313 yr Depends from what is the quality you need, there's always FSAltitude for some high altitude flying... Doesn't cover whole world of course, s I like FSAltitude for airliners.. I can fly at round 45,000 feet and have a decent view of the ground. The only issue I have with FSAltitude is, how do I delete areas completely off of FSAltititude where I have better sceneries. For e.g. I have Mega So cal.. or say Mega Texas or Orbx PNW and I want to remove these three area completely off of FSAltuitude libraries. But I don't mind have FSaltitide to fly over Oklahoma or New Mexico or other parts of the US where I simply fly over and not land. If I could do that...then FSAltitude is the best one to cover the whole world without taking too much space or too long to load FSX. I know FSA provides for dyanmic holes when you descend for sceneries under to popup when you fly low. But I want some permanent holes as well. FSAltitude does have files...but I can't tell which file covers which areas...so we could simply remove em. If only they would provide a file/location map.. FSA would be my default all over. Nothing comes close to photosceneries (even low resolution like FSA) for airliner high altitude flight and not having to worry about repeating patterns. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
June 7, 201313 yr Hello John, Just wanted to say hey. You and I go back to the BETA testing days of Birds Eye View -Gawwwwwwddddd I feel OLD !!!! Yes I have purchased everything from BEV to USA Roads to GE PRO to GEX / UTX ,etc etc ... and YES I will definitely continue the search for perfection thru the new FTX Global . Thanks for your contributions to our hobby >>> with lots of FREEWARE and some fantastic payware  Take care my friend, Vince Quote
June 8, 201313 yr Some good news for people with France VFR regional sceneries, the autogen will be merged with EU in their next service pack. And who said some cooperation between scenerymakers was a bad thing.... I just say, bring on FTX Global this is going to be great
June 8, 201313 yr Some good news for people with France VFR regional sceneries, the autogen will be merged with EU in their next service pack Kaboki, can you tell us how you know this and exactly what this means? Does this address France VFR's compatibility with FTX Global or with FTX Europe? I have all of the France VFR Regional sceneries, and currently you cannot have them running at the same time you are running FTX England. So, for example, you cannot take off in ORBX Lydd and fly to Le Touquet in France VFR. My system specs: Intel [email protected] - 5.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB DDR4 RAM, Noctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler,1TB Seagate SSD, 4TB Seagate HD, Windows 10, Asus 32 inch monitor, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Rudder Pedals and Trim Wheel Sims: MSFS2020 Preferred Aircraft Black Square Bonanza, and Baron, A2A Comanche, PMDG DC-6, Red Wing L1049
June 8, 201313 yr Kaboki, can you tell us how you know this and exactly what this means? Does this address France VFR's compatibility with FTX Global or with FTX Europe? My "Secret police Unit" came up with the intel when survailing the Orbx company  Just kidding here is a Quote from JV: "OK email to Laurent at FranceVFR has been sent, copies of FTX England/Wales given, let's see if we can fix this ASAP. It will likely be a patch for our EU regions we release at the same time as FTX Scotland." I would assume this would work with Global too, although not 100% sure, good news anyway..
