Ok, now I see what you mean but that means you still need to press the play brief button to trigger FS2Crew to go into descent mode and to me it feels a bit awkward to first play a pre-recorded approach brief and then shortly thereafter speak another one yourself. This is especially true with the voice edition since it takes away from the realism first speaking with your own voice in the role of the captain and then in the middle of all you're forced to play a pre-recorded message made by the captain with someone else's voice...are you with me?Wouldn't it be possible to use the FO's "No questions" reply to the voice "Are you ready for the approach brief" dialog rather than pressing the play brief button or if not have something else that won't play a pre-recorded message trigger FS2Crew to go into descent mode?

Not correct. You do not need to press 'play brief'.Calling for the "Descent Checklist" will put FS2Crew into Descent mode. FYI, calling for the Approach Checklist will also put FS2Crew into Descent Mode.Reason I don't also have "Are you ready for the Approach Brief" trigger descent mode is because it may trigger accidently if you say the wrong thing. Then you may put FS2Crew into descent mode when you're, say, taking off, and everything will go downhill from there.Edit: I just noticed that the if you say "Any Questions", the FO's pre-descent flow will not get triggered. I just fixed this now for SP1, but that's irrelevant to the question.

OK, but I can't call for the descent checklist until the FO has performed his initial descent flow which he does after I pressed the play brief button and he then says he's ready for the checklist or do you mean calling for the descent checklist is another trigger for the FO to perform his initial descent flow like setting the autobrake to it's correct position etc and he will then start the descent checklist after he's done with his flow?Thanks for the info regarding calling for the approach checklist will also put FS2Crew into descent mode, however when flying in Europe where the TL is often around FL50, running the descent checklist at that point is very late. Normally I guess you wouldn't run the descent checklist below FL100. I know the documentation says you should run the approach checklist at FL100 or when passing TL whichever is lower and well before this you should of course already have run the descent flow and checklist.Then you say you noticed saying "Any questions?", the FO's pre-descent flow will not get triggered but that you've fixed this for the SP and also that it's irrelevant to the question. Probably it's just me being stupid so sorry for that but to me this in every way is relevant to my question since this is exactly how I would like it if I was to choose...that I ask the FO if he's ready for the approach brief, then brief him using my own words and then when I finish off by saying "Any questions?" that would be the trigger for him to start his initial descent flow and then when he's done he will let me know he's ready for the descent checklist. To me that would be the most logical order.I understand your explanation why you don't want the "Are you ready for the approach brief?" as a trigger for the FO to start his descent flow but if you instead could program him so he must "hear" first "Are you ready for the approach brief?" and then "Any questions?" before he's allowed to start his descent flow I think it would be very unlikely the descent mode would activate by mistake.
