December 25, 200322 yr I just upgraded from Windows ME and FAT 32 allocation tables to Windows XP Professional. During the upgrade the hard drives still use FAT 32. Is there any advantage with FS 2004 to converting to dynmamic hard drives, i.e., NTFS format verses remaining at FAT 32. Thanks in advance. Happy holiday to all.
December 25, 200322 yr Author NTFS is a better file system, more efficient but if you switch earlier OS's can't read the disks, only NT/2000/XP can read NTFS.I also think there is a 'gotcha' with 'dynamic drives', do a search on the MS knowledgebase, in the meantime I'll see if I can dredge up anything from my overwokred brain :-)HTH
December 26, 200322 yr Author Update.Search for 'dynamic disks' in the XP help and support file (from the start button) it explaines all there.
