October 9, 201015 yr Whenever I use 34L for takeoff or approach, RC4 identifies 34C instead. I assume 34C was 34L until the addition of the present 34L. FSX is getting a bit older but isn't there a way to fix this?I ran "makerunways" yesterday but no change. Neal Howard
October 9, 201015 yr It is difficult to renumber an existing runway in FS. It takes more than the AFCAD editor (only good for FS9). It might be doable with Airport Design Editor (ADE9X) if you have to do it yourself. I do not know if AFX can do all the necessary manipulations.I'd search for an add-on with correctly designed layers to do this. The "new" runway will also require an added approach layer to properly set navaids for use by AI. Without this added information new navaids will not show on the FS map or default GPS.When you supply modified scenery be sure you run makerwys 4.41 or later from within RC, not directly. If your version is earlier replace it from the above pinned forum links, run the RC scenery rebuild, and check it again. Version 4.41 and later correct some scenery layer priority issues.http://www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk/ describes this freeware for FS9 and FSX.http://www.scruffyduck.org.uk/filemanager/navega.php?id=2&PHPSESSID=9e8967291567f8e1c6d70e09afda795e is the download location for tutorials, manuals, and the application. Here's how to check what RC sees:in your data folder under RC4 make a safety copy of r4.csv. Open r4.csv in notepad. Search for KSEA.Here's an example of the default FS9 entries (just two runways in the default):KSEA,0161,47.463623,-122.307716,429,160.940,11894,110.30BDG,150,19.400,47.447311,-122.307861,0,,CLKSEA,0162,47.463615,-122.310951,429,160.940,9420,111.70BDG,150,19.400,47.450695,-122.311066,0,,KSEA,0341,47.437775,-122.311180,429,340.940,9420,111.70BDG,150,19.400,47.450695,-122.311066,0,,KSEA,0342,47.431000,-122.308006,429,340.940,11894,110.30BDG,150,19.400,47.447311,-122.307861,0,,CLThe second field identifies the type a runway number extension - see below - (first digit), the number part of the id (second and third digit) and the id (letter) subscript of nothing, left, right, or center as follows:* Rwy is nnn for runway number, then 0, 1=L, 2=R, 3=C, 4=W (water) Note that runways designated N, NE, etc are denoted by runway numbers over 36, as follows: 37 = N-S 38 = E-W 39 = NW-SE 40 = SW-NE 41 = S-N 42 = W-E 43 = SE-NW 44 = NE-SW 45 = N 46 = W 47 = NW 48 = SW 49 = S 50 = E 51 = SE 52 = NEIf you are using an add-on post a reply and I'll describe how to check scenery priority or refer to this thread below:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/302776-rc4-not-identifying-certain-airports/
October 9, 201015 yr There is an AFCAD on the AVSIM library that fixes this quite nicely. Has all thre KSEA runways, all labeled correctly. Just used it a few flights ago. Just remember after installing the update to re-run Makerwys. October 9, 201015 yr Author Thanks for such a quick response guys. By tomorrow KSEA should be "fixed". This sim wouldn't be half as good without these forums :) Neal Howard
October 10, 201015 yr The afcad which I highly recommend was create by Jim Vile -As far as I know it is only available at http://www.scruffyduckscenery.co.uk/Look in the download center under FS9 airports. The file name is ksea_seattle-tacoma FS2004_default.zipThis afcad adds the new runway with appropriate texture around it.If needed for FSX, there is one under the FSX airport listings also.
October 10, 201015 yr The scruffyduck library of scenery, especially by in part by jim vile, has the correct approach data for AI. Jim wrote the ADE approach tool portion. The FSX scenery is based on enhancements to the default FSX KSEA. Be sure to check the readme file for instructions and options.
October 17, 201015 yr Author Thanks for all the info and help. KSEA is now correct in every way. Scruffy Duck is really a good site for airport updates. Too bad they do not have an update for KGSO (another new runway). Neal Howard
October 17, 201015 yr You can add runways with ADE9X as well as supporting taxiways. If you have an add-on that used AFX to create the afd layer, you can use that if you have it or from a test I ran you can load an AFX created file into ADE9X for modification.Use the current current airport chart for guidance (Try flightaware.com.) and select approaches for information if you need to add an ILS/LOC to your new runway.
October 18, 201015 yr Thanks for all the info and help. KSEA is now correct in every way. Scruffy Duck is really a good site for airport updates. Too bad they do not have an update for KGSO (another new runway).I see AVSIM has a KGSO Afacad update up, posted Jan of 09, is that not recent enough? I find using ADE to be pretty quick learn, and easy to make changes to existing airports and creating new ones from scratch. The thing that takes the longest is the taxiway signs. May 9, 201115 yr Hi All,Well I downloaded ksea_seattle-tacoma_fsx_default_aig.zip from Avsim and it works beautifully. 34 used for outbound and the other two runways for inbound. What a nice job they did. The flattening was perfect and there were some modified roads that you can even choose to add another bgl to add car traffic to them. This was developed by Matthew Brooks and released by Alpha-India Group. My thanks to them. I had just purchased UT2 and am really enjoying this... Thanks Flight1 as UT2 has allowed for a very nice flow of both GA and Commercial.RegardsBob Officially retired
May 9, 201115 yr A tip for UT2 (the traffic application):Check the UT2 setting for AI spawning distance and set it for max. This allows RC to see them before approach assigns you the runway and allows the AI to stabilize in the pattern.
