Any decent Gulfstream biz jets out there?

Featured Replies

I still fly the brilliant Falcon 50 (which was designed for FS2002, but I have running well in FS9).It is a beautiful looking aircraft, has good performance, and hand flies really well.Unfortunately Dassault have also put a ban on FS versions of their aircraft, but this freeware one is amazing in its own rights! :(

I agree on the Falcon 50. The G5, Falcon 50, and ES Citation X are my favorite Exec. Aircraft. The Falcon and Citation do not have the range or payload of the Gulfstreams though. Unfortunately, like the G5, the Falcon panel does not work in FSX. A perverted third party alternate lets the bird fly there, but neither is anywhere near as satisfactory as in FS9 due to the absence of the fine panels available there. It amazes me that these manufacturer's would feel that the sale of an aircraft would be threatened by giving their permission for a simulator version for FS by a source like PMDG or the like. I wonder how "Criminal Minds" got them to open and close that TV program with such a scene. Occasionally, NCIS also includes a G5. Guess they like CBS more than they do us, or possibly CBS is using their own. However, the Gulfstream model varies with different programs, so unless CBS has a hanger full of them, including G5.5's I would think that is unlikely. I sometime wonder if they are real world aircraft or simulated? A Mockup of the interior would not be that difficult for CBS, but the exterior in flight scenes sure do look realistic.Happy flying:RTH

Neil...I am just getting back into FS after being absent due to family issues...buying a laptop soon to run FS9 would love to know how you got the Falcon 50 to work in FS9. That is the first addon I flew in FS and if I had to pick only one plane to fly now that would be it, hands down, yes for sentimental reasons but also because it was so wonderful to fly (if I remember Rob Young did the flight dynamics).I searched around and could only find references to a French site that had patched it for FS9 but the site was no longer active. Any guidance you could give me is greatly appreciated!Best,Roy Holley

How did you get that Falcon 50 to run in FS9? I tried to do this way long ago and couldn't, there were way too many problems.
No JP, this is the only aircraft that I have that this occurs with. Selecting any of my other aircraft will display the control box on the flight configuration screen. That is one reason why I noticed the difference.Mark
Now that Ed posted I see it .That is a really strange one.Reinstalling did not cure the "error"?I'd say it was a driver conflict,or something, that is usually the case with things of that nature. But hey,I'm no expert, and I'm patiently waiting for the 328 Jet,i.e I do not own any Eaglesoft product, yet. Also, does the plane run as normal if you click fly now?JP.

It was updated to work with FS2004,I use it to, it works great.Search for the file named 'Falcon50_2k4.zip' I can't remember which library I got it from, but that was the filename.Regards.Ernie.

I did indeed install the above mentioned file, but still had to fine tune it a bit.I even went as far as to contact Rob, who did the original air file. In FS9 the Falcon suffers from a severe lack of power (very hard to get it climbing at high levels).I also installed Lee Hetheringtons TCAS, a freeware GPWS and the ISG FMS (but left the original old HSI - so it is only semi modern). I then spent ages finding a good sound pack for it (freeware) and rewriting the Sound.cfg to make it all work.It is great fun to fly (I use it for quick flights when I don't have hours to start up the Maddog :( ).Neil

You really might want to consider looking at the Legacy EMB-135BJ from Wilco/Feelthere then. It really is one of the best payware addons you can find that has a middle degree of complexity with the fun of advanced navigation capabilities.

If we could obtain permissions how would you all like an F50 if done full boat? Just asking? :(

Only if you promise to do a 2000LX or 900LX too. :-)

You misspelled Baron Ron.

Yeah-I noticed that too.Seems to be a void here..why develop two of everything when one of something hasn't been done yet...

Because the Baron isn't a biz jet? =PMy original intent of this thread was to discuss the Gulfstream V in an effort to find a decent biz jet capable of 4000+nm range.

Sorry, thought you and Jeremy had Real Air convinced to do the Baron guys. :(Anyway, just asking because we have a team member who flies the F50 and the 900 for real. :(
