September 22, 200916 yr Howdy,Bought the CH yoke USB recently and im having this annoying issue when pulling on the yoke.As i pull the yoke it gets detached from the table. this is very annoying particularly during takeoff's and approaches.I was wondering what is the best method to mount it to a table without it being all shakey and unstable.thanks in advance,Greg.
September 22, 200916 yr I have a cheap plastic table so drilling two holes in it was no big deal for me. I then got 2 lag bolts ( 6" long ) and a some angle iron with pre drilled holes. Put the angle iron on top of the yoke, and the bolts through the holes in the angle iron and table, tighten the nuts under the table and the yoke will stay in place.
September 22, 200916 yr You may try a small piece of that thin foam cushion mesh material (usually it's beige or white in color) used for carpets, jar openers, closet shelf liner and sometimes for placemats. It's all over the place at the hardware store in the storage aisle or kitchen aisle at the box stores like WalMart or Target (in the US). Place it on the edge of the table, drop the yoke on it then put pressure on it using the clamps. If the clamps are too long, I used an old text book to make it fit. That stuff is extremely anti-skid and won't go anywhere, and it doesn't mark nor melt or attach to your plastic / wood.Cheers,
September 22, 200916 yr If you have the original yoke, it doesn't fit a table with a thickness of less than an inch very well. When CH introduced the Eclipse yoke they made it to fit a thinner table and made the adapters available as an accessory for the original yoke. Look here for the clamp extenders.http://www.chproducts.com/shop/parts.html AMD 3800X, Gigabyte Radeon 5700XT, AS Rock X570 Phantom Gaming 4, 32mb 3600 ram
September 22, 200916 yr I use a computer desk with a 'dropped' keyboard tray, that I use for both the KB and yoke, but not at the same time. I put a strip of Velcro under the front of the yoke so it holds it down when in use. I also taped a 'filler block'on the yoke above the clamps to narrow the gap, and this works well.
September 23, 200916 yr I cured the problem long ago here by using the plastic clay sold to mount posters on the wall... goes under different trade names these days. Original was called "fun-tack" I think. Now Scotch brand "Adhesive Putty", other brands with other trade names.Anyway, placing a nice size wad of this under each foot of the yoke and then pressing the unit down with body weight for 15 seconds or so, will hold it in place until you need to move it. (you still need to tighten the clamps well)Be sure to knead the plastic clay in your fingers before you stick it down each time. Best bet is white as it will not leave color behind.
September 23, 200916 yr I have fixed the yoke and quadrant with vecro on a wooden board, which is clamped with two sturdy clamps to my desk. Unmounting is easy (just release the clamps) and it also cured the problem with the back of the yoke lifting.I also put an USB-hub on it so I only have to remove the one cable.
