January 27, 200917 yr You're welcome. (And I know about expressing yourself in a foreign language!) And we won't give up until everyone here is fully satisfied with all the answers, so feel free to come back and post as many questions as needed! :(
January 27, 200917 yr NOBODY SO FAR COULD EXPLAIN WHAT THE POSITION AT WHICH THE FE FLAGS ARE PLACED ON THE SPEED TAPE WOULD SAY, WHAT IS THAT SPEED WHERE E.G. -F28 IS?It's not the maneuver speed, not the speed at which the flaps must be extended, not the maximum flaps extension speed, so what else is it? I wonder why it is so difficult to give an answer to that simple question if we have all the experts here! The reason it is so difficult to answer your "simple" questions is that you keep make statements like the one above. Despite all your argueing, logic and rationalisation, it IS the maximum flaps/slats/gear extension speed. This was stated in the first reply to your question. If you flew the plane, you would very quickly see that. Paul. Paul Smith.
January 27, 200917 yr F28 is a structural limitation speed, the maximum speed allowed with flaps extended to 28 deg and it is fixed at 210Kts.Normally after take-off you are only concerned with VFR and VSR. They are not fixed but are calculated by the FMS and vary with weight. They will initially be amber but turn green when accelerating through that minimum speed, showing that it's now ok to reconfigure. During climb out you will see the appropriate fixed limiting speeds F15 (255) and GE (260) changing from green to amber as you pass through them. SE (280) is shown amber at top of scale until slats are retracted.During descent you are interested in not exceeding the limiting extension speeds. When you are faster than a certain gear/slat/flap limit speed it is amber, when you decelerate below it it turns green. The absolute minimum speed at which you can fly is again calculated by the FMS and is shown as the 'amber foot'. For approach it is 1.3Vstall.Try setting up a long straight-in coupled approach with profile speed (all magenta) and play with slat and flap settings. The autothrottles will look after the speed, you can concentrate on the indications, use pause if necessary.Chris G
