Need Sao Paulo + Rio scenery

Featured Replies

Any recommendations for good Rio de Janeiro + Sao Paulo scenery? I wonder if there is any scenery of the overall southeast coastal region of Brazil that enables one to fly between them and see great add-on scenery. Appreciate any recommendations, thanks!JS

Check out this site:http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004/whatsnew.phpPossibly the best resource for scenery on the web.It is updated daily. In my opinion, this site should be on everyone's Favorite list.

JS, try the Brazilian FS site http://www.terra-brasilis.org/ . The Rio V8 scenery is great and they have a lot of photoreal stuff as well, and its all free. The only bad part for me is that they dont have much FSX stuf for me and I miss it since I dont fly FS9 anymore. Also I found that for payware the Sao Paulo scenery from World Sceneries was the best one for Congonhas.

I installed Rio V8 yesterday evening. It is excellent and I am duly impressed. I have not installed any of the additional texture files, bitmaps, or aircraft that were bundled because that looks somewhat more formidable. Oh, wait, I did instal the airport lighting stuff but it doesn't work and I am not sure I understand the text that came with it for configuring that lighting. I have Ultimate Traffic and that is generating a certain amount of traffic for the area. Am I missing anything wonderful by not installing and configuring the additional files?JS

The extra traffic adds a bit of realism that I like.If I remember correctly, there was nothing you needed to do with the lighting stuff - it is already in the scenery (and works properly there). It was just included in the package for those who wanted to experiment with what was then, a fairly new concept. If you install the aircraft you will note there is a Canadian Ultra lite flying about. That was done as a "tip of the hat" to one of the scenery designers who lives in Canada. If you don't care for the "extras", you can always remove them.

I did instal the specific apron lighting ("lighting pool" effect)but there was no special effect at any airport with it. Are you saying that it should work "as advertised" with no file edits or whatever? Thanks for your posts and advice.JS

It's been well over a year since I installed the package - but as I remember, the lighting effect was used near some of the hangars to good effect. I believe it put light on the ground as if it were coming from an overhead light fixture on a lamp post. That is how I remember it anyway.

Silly me! I installed the effects in the wrong folder. NOW it works. I have blazing apron lighting at night at Santos Dumont airport. Phew!Panic over, sorry.JS
