Xgauge shows my aircraft over thick cloud. Hmmm...look out the window of my cockpit. This isn't the first time I've noticed discrepancies like this. See attachment.

Hi Temp,Sorry, I missed this the first time around.If it is the fact that you can see the stars, then you are above the cloud layer.Another thing users must keep in mind is that X Gauge is using set, predefined symbols to show the weather conditions. It is not a true weather Radar and it is not showing individual clouds or cloud patterns. Hi Jim.If I am above the cloud layer, why can I not see the clouds, as depicted on the Xgauge, around me and up to my horizon when I look out of the window.Also, I thought XGauge was a kind of weather Radar. If XGauge shows something different to what's being seen in FS then what's the point of having it? I took another flight this morning on the same trip from Gatwick (UK) to Glasgow in Scotland (UK). As I approach Scotland, XGauge showed hardly any clouds at all yet out of my window there were loads of clouds. What gives? If this is the way the program is meant to work as far as XGauge is concerned then it's becomes know more than just a gimmick (I say that respectfully), does it not?Thanks Jim.

Hi Temp,One reason you can't see the clouds is because it is night. The other reason is that no matter what, there is a maximum cloud draw distance in FSX, and you will never get clouds drawn to the horizon.What X Gauge is doing is bringing the data from the Map screen and displaying it in FSX. This means that users do not need to Alt/Tab back and forth between the 2 programs. Map view is not a true Radar and either is X Gauge. It is there to represent the general weather conditions along your flight. What we are doing is taking each weather station's conditions and converting them to a set symbol and displaying that.
