The Freeware Flight Group 757 Series

Featured Replies

Bmused55 - Your comments will only be taken seriously when you have something constructive to say, "Good work and all,... but... is that suposed to be a 757?" is only insulting.I will say though that the angle in the first shot may be deceiving to some of you as far as the shape of the nose goes. The entire nose section is 100% dead on. Arnoldo spent weeks working on it and if you reference the second screen shot to some real pictures you'll see what I'm talking about. The wings would look far back because this is a 757-300, not a -200. The wing placement looks much different in respect to the rest of the fuselage on this model. If you're very familiar with the -300 and still see a problem please let us know.As I said, this is only a beta model and it can only get better from here. If you have something respectable to say, I urge you to go on over to our forum and post your suggestions there...http://www.fsnordic.net/discussion/index.php?board=2Bmused55, consider yourself NOT invited if your comments remain as they have.

Well said Andrew, couln't agree more. In MY OPINION that 757 is looking very nice.

I don't quite understand your written attacks Bmused55, have you got a problem with FFG modelling the 757 series?

So much for trying to inject a little sarcasm or humour here, eh Sandy? It's a great start. Only thaing that I see that may need attention is the fuselage rear of the wing fairing need to reflect the fact that it's got a larger vertical diameter than the fuselage forward of the wing, that doesn't look represented in the alpha pictures above. I'm not a modeller so I can only imagine the work in volved, and as i said it looks great. Andrew:-samurai

That was not sarcasm, that was slamming someone else's work in a sardonic way. Come on Sandy, you should know better.DP

Well.I'm not gonna sit around and say,OOO nice, OO good, OOO fabulous.Firstly the nose... from those screenshots... it seems off. The 757 nose is hard to model, as this is an early preview, I know FFG has time to sort that. So I'm saying it now.. Nose needs work. The cockpit windows... hard to explain but they're off slightly. Not by much,.. but they don't seem right. again. cockpit windows need workThe rear fuselage, it doesn't look very "757" looks more Airbus A320 IMO. the 757 has a long thins overall fuselage, the taper at the rear folows this design. Again, this need work. The Engine Struts.... the don't just come to a complete vertial stop at the leading edge! This model clearly shows a chunk out of the very forward tip of the strut. The vertical stabiliser. Its a Little to fat at the base and seems to need to be swepts back more.Oh and as Andrew says... the Wing fairing... but I am aware this ins difficult to model.all in all, it is ok for a previewBut works need to be done, and I know that will happen.I wish the world would be a nice, sugar coated place... but unfortunately it isn't.We can't all blindly say "OOO nice job, looks excellent" when it is clear... that job needs work.I'm sick if people blindly posting a good comment on something that is clearly not up to scratch, just beacuse they can't hack doing what I did! this doesn;t nccessarily apply to this post... but I was a bit annoyed at all the fact no one would say anything else that looks good, brilliant etc. Someone needed to to suggest it needed work.. I DID. I tried to be a little humerous... but s as so often happens here its taken the wrong way.And as you all know I ALWAYS encourage ANY KIND of comment on my work.hope I've explained myself.

You know, I'm really not sure what the purpose of these open-ended criticisms is.I've been around the FS community for many years now, and counted myself lucky to finally attempt to contribute and in some small way repay the hours of enjoyment I've derived from this hobby. In about one month's time, I spent almost every waking hour learning to use PaintShop, and eventually turned out a grand total of about seven repaints. Burn out came rather quickly!Sandy, you of all people understand the time, effort, and perfectionism that goes into EVERY product put out on the FS market, payware or freeware; this also holds true whether or not you think a product is "good" or "bad" by your standards. As a relative newcomer to the forum scene, I've been both surprised and disappointed at the general lack of courtesy shown by some of us. This ranges in appearance from impatience over an aircraft's release to open and rather hostile criticism of products, design groups, and sometimes even individuals. No, the world isn't a sugar coated place. Perhaps, however, encouragement rather than caustic humor is called for here. As much as we may like to think so, FLIGHT SIMULATOR IS NOT REAL LIFE. Comments intended to help could be sent privately as easily as they are sent to the public forum. It is not a lack of guts that prevents people from making "destructive" comments--rather, it is the presence of tact, which is both a common and a necessary social skill. If you feel the need to critique another's work before they ask for your help, please suggest specific solutions in addition to pointing out problems. Thanks to all who have been encouraging to those of us who are newcomers here...you are the reason Avsim keeps growing and designers keep pushing each others to greater and greater heights of realism. To those who cannot do likewise: let it be known that what is acceptable to you may not be acceptable to others, and vice versa. There is no need for public embarassment, no matter the (perceived) quality of the product.Best to all, and KEEP IT FUN!!! :7MikePhoenix, AZ

Keep up the great work FFG. I am really happy about the new 757s coming out.

I beleive I just explained my comments.I'm all for encouragement... but if we all says it looks good, when in fact it needs work.... then we're not getting anywhere!THAT is my point here. But I will re-itterate KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. IT doesn't look perfect, but its early yet

Looks good. :-beerchug

Woow :-eek I am really looking forward to this wonderful 757. Keep up the good work :-) Cheers,PedjaJAT Airways

there is NOTHING wrong with posting whatever a person may feel about the model - and I back Sandy on this. If someone notice something that looks wrong in his/her opinion, than why can't he/she share and insert a comment here - it may be wrong or right.. - to expect everyone to say it is great and have a blind eye against what they see, when a few of them think there could be improvements - it's just doesn't make sense.Afterall, 'Feel free to post your comments!' - if something is deemed inappropriate (e.g. sarcasm and outrageous comments), let the moderators will do their job. Ok - there may be some sarcasm (unintended) - in that regards then if this is misinterpreted then fine. However if there is malice behind this, Sandy should apologize. If what people say are continually misinterpreted than there's not much point in posting here. Afterall, criticism is an important part in the FS. What is constructive and non-constructive is up to you to decide. But ultimately only Sandy would know what he meant. If feedbacks are going to be slammed like this? Who's going to make a constructive criticism? In my opinion, the model DO look great but as Matt said, the nose might need some small work - but nothing that can't be fixed by FFG's quality standard and reputation - and this is proven throughout the years they built quality models - if this is the beta pics of the model then we're up for a quality 753!!There's also no point in jumping into conclusions about what others say.. As you know Sandy have painted 757s in the past so why would she have anything against FFG doing the 757 series? What I am disappointed about is that some people react far too harshly to things other people say and also things people say can cause controversy.. all it needs is a logical and sensible reply - and the post won't be flamed as it is now. So, PLEASE cool down and clear our heads.... and enjoy the beautiful pics Andrew's posted here ;)some may think there's something wrong in the first pic, it's probably due to the zoom in of FS, not the model...Regards,

Cheers,

Dickson Chan

Thank you Dickson.I did not mean malice... not in the slightest. That is soemthing I wouldn't accept so why do it myself.I see how my first comment may have been misinterpreted. But as DC say. folks... cool down huh.

oh and BTWI do look forward to painting this model.

With you too Sandy - the nose looks fine from the other angles, but that first one looks 'out' and the tail tapers more.Given the IFDG -200 model is out, like it or not that's the standard that has been set.I must've re-done the nose on my plane (from scratch) about 7 times, at least, and it's those three-quarter angles that you need to scrutinise really closely to tweak each point in the offending area.BTW Mine's still sitting in the paintshop, having added moving hold doors, I got sidetracked into adding a full virtual cabin - silly move!.
