November 10, 200619 yr hi, i have both a usb axescard from open cockpits with 5 axes and 24 buttons and now want to make a throttlei want to use potmeters and so far have assigned 2 seperate thrustlevers, and flaps.but the spoilers and reversers are more difficult, how do one callibrate these?i have a registered version of fsuipc, 3.70, and read somewhere you can use it to get the reversers and spoilers to work, can someone give me some advice on this matter?thanksI
November 10, 200619 yr >but the spoilers and reversers are more difficult, how do one>callibrate these?>i have a registered version of fsuipc, 3.70, and read>somewhere you can use it to get the reversers and spoilers to>work,Spoilers is just another axis, it should be available there. It might be also called "speedbrake". But it's just a control surface you can assign a joystick axis to - either from FSUIPC or from the FS 2004 dialog as well. For reverser, the setting is in FSUIPC, and it is tied to the throttles - there's a "Joystick Calibration" tab, where you press the black "right" arrow a few times to get to the page "3 of 11: Separate throttles per engine" -page (might vary between fsuipc versions)There you set Throttle 1 to be calibrated (press "set" and you get more controls - move the throttle to full and press the "Set"-button below "Max", move the throttle to idle, and press the "Set"-button under "idle" and then to reverse and press the "Set" under "Reverse".As I don't like them hairdryers, but enjoy piston prop planes more, I havent actually done this myself, but it looks to me this is how it should work.//Tuomas

November 11, 200619 yr Or... maybe... a small pot in SERIES with the main throttle pot? With value such so that their total resistance is 10K ?Like for example a 6.7K for the throttle and a 3.3K for the reverse?Depends of course on what pots you can find.George DorkofikisAthens, Hellashttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/811520/1704.png
November 12, 200619 yr This is only theory so please forgive me if I am incorrect, I have not touched my sim for six months due to work pressure so am a little rusty. If you were to use SIOC from OpenCockpits you should be able to asign a variable to each pot, one for thrust and one for reverse and then transfer the appplicable one to the FSUIPC offset, something like this,if throttle pot is forward of idle then transfer this value to FSUIPC ignoring the reverser pot valueif throttle is idle and reverser is idle then transfer zero percent trust value to FSUIPCif throttle is idle and reverse pot is in use then transfer the reverse value to fsuipcThis should be feasable and will allow you to use seperate pots for thrust and reverse meaning you do not have to put up with reverse just being on or off with a microswitch.Hope You can understand what I am trying to say.The Porcupineaka Simon Webbwww.desktopflying.co.ukVery, Very slowely putting together a generic twin desktop unit.
November 12, 200619 yr ok, thanks, i use sioc from open cockpits but i am hapy with the solution now.1 pot for each engine , 1 for flaps and one for spoilers.they all work fine now with fsuipc, the reversers , i do not have he need for seperate ones so assigned a microswitch for the reverser with the button throttle decrement and in repeat function, this way i have a slight control of how far i need the reverser to go, but to be honest, i always use full reverse, unless ofcourse forbidden by airport rules.to get out of the reverse i assigned a second microswitch to throttle cuta nice benefit is the fact that the fifth pot is used for rudders, so i can get rid of my game port connectionthanks for your helpivo
